♛ ★ ✖ MARCO THE PHOENIX Despite him having an incredibly aggravating (to Espio) habit of popping up all over the place, Espio sees Marco as a reliable friend. This is despite having numerous conflicting viewpoints on things like justice and good vs evil, not to mention Marco frequently picking on him like the troll he is. Unimpressed with the nicknames of "Pinky" and "Chibi," he's responded to Marco's nicknaming by handing him a nickname of his own - "Twinkle."
Marco is pretty much Espio's "family" in Garden. He's one of very few people Espio would ask for help or advice, and he'll often speak more openly with Marco than anyone else - the pirate knows more about Espio than perhaps even his friends in the Special Zone did.
Lately, out of boredom and a lack of direction, Espio has made it something of a mission to annoy Marco through stupid actions... like filling his dorm with turnips. You could call it payback for all the times Marco annoys Espio, except it's usually ineffective.
♛ ✖ ✖ ✖ GRELL SUTCLIFF Grell is one of those people who Espio just loves to argue with. He finds her annoying, self-absorbed and overly dramatic... but at least he can always rely on her to rise to the bait. It is rare that they can be in the same vicinity as one another without arguing, though recently this has been happening more frequently.
Oddly, however, through all the fighting Espio does have a slight grudging appreciation for her existance, and has openly said he'd help her if she needed it. He's even been known to retract insults when he sees they've actually hurt, for some reason.
✖ RINOA HEARTILLY Despite having known her for quite a long while, Espio isn't particularly close to Rinoa, though he'll chat with her now and again.
While he doesn't exactly dislike her, he does find her optimisim to be grating, and frankly thinks she's looking for positives that aren't there when it comes to certain people and things they have done... though admittedly, she has made him question his own perspective before now.
★ BULLA BRIEF Espio's on good terms with Bulla, and does consider her something of a friend, if not as close as others. She's always there with a smile, and she manages to pull it off without being annoying. Lucky her!
Even so, Espio doesn't consider her close enough a friend to actively seek out her company, and though she's tried to find out what's been bugging him when he's been down he's been reluctant to really talk.
★ ✖ SNOW VILLIERS Probably one of the more significant instructors, as far as Espio's concerned - he teaches the Martial Arts classes. Espio is annoyed by his attitude (which reminds him of a more laid-back Mighty), but at the very least has accepted that the guy knows what he's talking about...
That said, because Snow reminds him of Mighty, he does find it hard to take him seriously at times, and will occasionally be pretty dismissive of what he says.
★ MIRACLE MIKURU She spilled soup on him once, and Espio's not entirely sure he can trust her with her weapons of choice - who gave someone that clumsy a pair of handguns?!
Still, she's nice enough, and seems to like helping out. Mikuru even loaned Espio one of her pistols when he was trying to improve his range. He finds it hard to dislike her
✖ JADE STRIDER Even though Espio doesn't really know Jade very well yet, he definitely has an opinion on her: she's trying too hard to be cool, and it's not working. He's actually told her off for using profanity, whereas with most people he wouldn't care.
On learning that she sees her brother as a rolemodel to the point she's pretty much just copying him, he told her off for that as well. In fact, he's probably going to bug her about it at every opportunity, now.
