Another year, and oops I forgot to get around to writing Haven like I was supposed to, again. But at least I've made it here to ring in 2024.
Two AM : 1
Heero was not the kind of guy that had trouble falling asleep. He had pretty good control over his thoughts and his vitals. He had a lot of experience with snatching a quick nap before or between bursts of action.
So if that asshole was not peacefully slumbering beside Duo at this time of night, it was only because he chose not to.
Duo did not have trouble falling asleep, per se. He didn't have nearly as good control over his thoughts and his vitals, but he wasn't too shabby at snatching a quick nap before or between bursts of action. He could admit to waking up a bit too easily sometimes, though. And now he was vaguely annoyed, and he chose to be that way, and he thought he might be something of an asshole about it.
It wasn't much of a chore to find Heero. The apartment wasn't that large, and the pendant light over the dining table was on, so it was pretty obvious where he should look, and he opened his mouth to call Yuy out on being unable to stay away from his work because they were on holiday right now, dammit and...
...and Heero appeared to be trying to figure out how to attach a puffball of yarn to the top of a knit hat.
And was this what had taken Heero from their bed the last few nights? Duo had assumed Heero was trying to stuff as much work in before the holidays kicked in.
Duo silently watched him fiddle with it for half a minute, getting more melty by the moment. It was on the tip of his tongue to apologize for his grumpy assumption, but he didn't want to ruin Heero's surprise. He crept back to bed, made a note to himself to curl sleepily around Heero just as soon as he came back, and promised he'd apologize after Heero presented the result of all his hard work. It was the least he could do.
