Veronica Mars - neptune_sleuth
I don't have a whole lot on my plate with Veronica on the moment, which suits me fine. She's got a lot to keep her occupied, largely off-screen, and so this month, she took a backseat for the most part. The one thing she does have going on at the moment is Mathias. Leah and I are in the process of threading them going on a - gasp - date, and I really love their dynamic, so it's a blast. It's not often Veronica actually clicks this way with someone, and it makes me happy that she has again, because, while I love playing her without any kind of romantic interest in her life (and I've said before and still hold to it, I like her better on her own), any kind of relationship means all her many, many issues coming back into play and that is undeniably fun. For me. Probably not for Matthias at some point. Certainly not for her. :D Plus I like it when she's happy? No, really. Also! She is currently meeting Stacy, which is interesting already, even if I am horrifically slow.

Eden McCain - wishesandsmoke
Another month on the backburner for her. Sigh. Next month, she'll be the first to get an EP, because it's been too long, but I think I need to work on actively tagging her into other people's EPs as well. She met Sammy Clay and I loved that, she's getting along well with Mikal, she likes Grigg (and a little bit likes likes, but she's still not sure it's worth doing something about). She's friendly and personable, but I think it might just be her lot never to attract much attention. There are some pups who just don't. Still, I've been neglecting her. I... will work on that. Maybe do something with her working in the Children's Office now.

Meredith Grey - drownondryland
And Meredith is just quiet, but you know, that's her way. She'll have these periods, and losing Sam didn't help that. I never worry about her because she always manages. That said, I want to do something more with her having received her mom's journals. I keep meaning to and I got Tracey to agree to a thread and then I never did it, because I fail. But yeah, I don't often like to lift from canon directly, but the idea of her handing off one of her mom's journals to Ellie for a sort of pre-reading is brilliant so I'll be doing that. Someday.

Serena van der Woodsen - turnthebadinme
Busy as ever, but less concretely so for once! It was actually quite a quiet month for her, which was nice. I mean, she was ridiculously active still, but it was a whole lot of little things - settling into a new house, hanging out with people, a birthday party, that kind of thing. She's still worried about Blair - and now about Nita some - and their respective bad habits and potential lapses, but she's also... still Serena. So she worries a lot when she remembers to and then forgets half a day later. Of course, her own bad habits are a different matter. She's growing increasingly comfortable with herself, which pleases me, and it means she's relaxing her own high standards for herself far more often (drinking more, for one thing, though not necessarily to excess. Yet). Someday it'd be fun to play with that becoming an issue again, but for now, I really do just want her to find her own balance and be okay with who she is (god, now who's the after school special). Plus Beat keeps her in line as much as she keeps him in line, just in the sense of the fact that having him there makes her curb herself more readily than she might otherwise do. Coming up, she'll have Chuck's plot, but I really don't have anything else planned for her yet.

Ryan Atwood - neededproof
HA. YES. I think I have FINALLY hit my stride with the boy, which is a blessing after last month's dead silence. But dear lord, he was so active this month! I think it was hands down his busiest month, and there were several points at which he was actually my busiest pup, and I'm just so delighted to have finally found my footing with him. O-Ren's plot has made for some interesting play. I need to tag him around more, but he's generally content not to know that many people. He and Marissa are talking again, which also makes for highly interesting play, because... they're them. So it's always going to be a little awkward and mixed up and all those things they're so good at and can't be. On the other hand, he's really settled and content in his relationship with Lucy right now, which makes all that easier. And probably a little more difficult, at the same time. I've also been doing a lot of rewatching lately and some thinking, and I might have a possible item for him, but I'm not wholly sure.

Sarah Walker - stayastranger
I love herrrr. Early on in my playing Eden, I was looking a lot at the ways she behaves differently from person to person, but this is vastly more marked in Sarah. Obviously she tries to maintain a fairly consistent role as Sarah Walker, but she also subtly shifts that personality depending on who she's talking to, and it's such fun to play. God, I love playing a spy. I adored her thread with Adam Carter, because he outright told her he'd been a spy, which had her wondering for a while about the possibility of a day of such openness ever coming for her (and god, there's a part of her that really does want that - the normal life, a family, not having to lie); at the same time, she knows that it's not necessarily something she's meant for. She doesn't know how to be normal, only how to play it, and she's so aware of it. Chuck getting injured only heightened that, and she's thrown herself back into her job heavily, attempting to close herself off again, because it took that to make her realize how she was gradually letting those walls down. It's so much harder for her not to when she can't avoid knowing people. Back in Echo Park/L.A., she didn't actually have to go out and socialize, and on the island it's impossible not to, so walking that line between her making friends and knowing she has to hold them at bay is great.

Elle Bishop - bodyellectric
I haven't had her out quite as much as I had wanted to since her arrival, but I'm working on that, and I just love everything I've done with her so far. The people at Heroes are great at creating these characters full of such potential, but they tend to fall down on filling them out and/or keeping them consistent and/or not killing them off before they can live up to it. That's fine by me, though, because it means I've got a goldmine of fresh material. She's only sort of just getting to know people, and it's a fine line for her to walk. She likes to think she's too tough to need anyone, but she's got some major dependency issues and a heavy desire to be around people. Her relationship with Daphne is so great to play, but outside of canon, she's taken a liking to Alice Cullen and Dean Winchester. Also Bill Guarnere, though they've hardly threaded. And this is awesome, because it's opening up a whole new range of pups I haven't really had a chance to play off of yet, and Elle's both so sure of herself and so uncertain all at once. Mmm, slight crazy.

The Future
For the moment, this means Julie Taylor from Friday Night Lights (lovingisatest). I'm real excited about Julie, but I might wind up pushing her back a month or two to the end of the quarter or the start of Q3, just to be sure I can juggle her in. I think I've found my balance with the set I have, but I'm not certain I can add another to the mix and keep it so. Another month or two of playing, though, should help me figure that out. Anyway, I still have to finish actually watching her canon anyway, which I'm in the process of doing, albeit slowly. I think there's a lot to work with in her, but I'm also looking forward to having a pup who's just eminently normal.
