Why? Because there was a BALL coming up. And if was wasn't a Non-Joiner, then she would be a Not Non-Joiner with Not Heath Ledger. She doubted anyone else would take HER inviting them to a BALL seriously anyway.
Strangely enough, when she strolled into what she THOUGHT was Jeremy's cave, Jaye only found a blond chick. "Shit, sorry, wrong cave," she said quickly, turning on one heel to head back out. Only she stopped, turned again, and really looked at their surroundings.
"No... Right cave. Where's Jeremy?"

She was starting to wonder if it were more a matter of if he came back rather than when, but she didn't want to panic anyone else just yet.
Except that she really couldn't keep it to herself. "He couldn't just be... gone. Right?"

Jaye froze, not wanting to answer at all. But the longer she stood there, just looking at his stuff, feeling the emptiness of the cave, flipping through her mind trying to remember the last time she saw Jeremy, heard of him, the more REAL the possibility of him disappearing became.
"Of course he could just be GONE," she snapped, shooting the other girl a dark glare. "That's what happens here. People disappear, ESPECIALLY once you've gotten used to having them around."

"Well, how would you know?" she asked, bristling a little. "If that's the case, I mean." She didn't want to jump to conclusions. She didn't even like to think it was really possible. It obviously rubbed the other girl the wrong way, though, which was what she got for snapping like that. "I just saw him the other day."
