Last night was amazing. The Hot Dog bandCrime In Stereo opened. They were alright, but their stage presence was kinda gross. Plus I'm sure they said "Whats New York" when we clearly were in Chicago, but I was half ass paying attention and I'm not sure about what the were talking about. They played 6 or 7 songs, and they knew the crowd definitely was not into them, except for one dude in the front who knew all the words to their songs and sang along while everyone else was just like WTF, and that one time when everyone felt it was appropriate to yell at their guitarist and tell him that he looked like Seth Green. They finally finished and then there was that zillion minute wait that always happens at shows when you're waiting for the headliner. Finally Glassjaw came on and omg they were so good. They opened with (You Think You're) John Fucking Lennon (a new song), and it def didn't live up to my overly high expectations. They played 3 more songs and then Daryl was like "Holy shit, we've never had a crowd this big in Chicago before. The last time we were here was at Warped in 2003. Man that was a long time ago. Tonight I don't want to do a lot of talking, its just all about the music." He wasn't lying, because they played a pretty heavy set and they were on for like an hour and 15 minutes. It was dominated by songs of Worship and Tribute, which I didn't have a problem with whatsoever.
Set List:
(You Think You're) John Fucking Lennon
Tip Your Bartender
Mu Empire
Star Above My Bed
Ape Dos Mil
The Gillette Cavalcade of Sports
Pink Roses
Jesus Glue
Pretty Lush
Stuck Pig
Two Tabs of Mescaline
Natural Born Farmer
Siberian Kiss
*encore*
Motel of the White Locust
Babe
The three new songs are okay. JFL needs some work, and Natural Born Farmer is the same song they were playing a couple years ago except changed a little bit. Jesus Glue however, is amazing. I thought the band would sound empty with them only having one guitar now, but Beck definitely knows what he's doing, and Daryl's vocals were amazing. I kinda knew they would be since when I saw Head Automatica in October he was screaming like he'd forgotten which band he was in at the moment and all the little girls that were expecting some little nice dude to sing Beating Hearts Baby were just like "lyke omg why is he screaming like that?!" Speaking of HA, Jarvis was there, and I totally didn't recognize him until he was gone. He was sitting upstairs when I first got there and I went to find my friend Emily. I didn't realize it was him the show was almost over and he was chillin on the side of the stage. He half looked like Todd Weinstock, but I knew it wasn't him because he apparently hates Glassjaw now. I met a super nice girl named Erin yesterday. We talked about Every Time I Die and Brooklyn Beatdown (you know, that SIF that got exposed a while ago and everyone was freaking out about thats "dating" the ETID dude) and Chiodos. Quite possibly a new concert buddy right thurrr. lolz I felt bad for the openers because they had their little merch table and the whole 15 minutes we were in line waiting for Glassjaw stuff no one said anything to them except asked them what time it was.
Okay, one thing I don't understand is why people get so upset when people tell them to stop doing something they aren't supposed to do in the first place. There was this group of kids sitting on the floor like 20 mins before the show started, and they got mad that the security guard came and told them to get up. When he left, they sat right back down. So he came back and told them if they wanted to sit down that they could go sit at the bar, or on one of the balconies. They seriously were about to have a bitch fit because dude told them to get up. Same with the 2 dudes who got taken out for fighting, and this one retard who tried to light a cigarette in the pit.
I finally finished my Christmas shopping. Yay me! I just have to waste time wrapping/ gift bagging them and I'll really be done. My mom and I got my dad some Bears playoff tickets, so he'll be jazzed about that. I got my mom a bunch of vinyl, because she's like me and enjoys listening to records far far too much. lolz I'm also going back on my hardcore diet because Christmas always makes me fat, and the last thing I need to do is get fatter. Damn those candy canes and gingerbread men! I need a job so hard, but the only interesting things I find are unpaid internships. College credit is great and all, but I like money.
Meme time!
