a loud pop-- I think you should get it checked out, otherwise theres the risk of losing all your precious songs

I would, but I don't exactly have the money to have it checked out right now.
Besides... All the songs that I really need on a day to day basis... I made into mixed cds, and I backed all my writing and everything up. So even if something goes wrong I'll still have all those things, and be able to stick them on a new computer (or the fixed one) as soon as I can.
