I was barely online last week, so belated birthday wishes to @solariana @shadowhive and @sperrywink You're all fab, and I'm so glad you're in my life ♥
I always enjoy Strictly's theme weeks, so really liked the Halloween one last night. Craig and Anton's outfit were great, and as for Nikita's reveal
Yes, the dance was wildly out of time. Yes, Nikita's rip-off trousers were coming undone well before the reveal. Yes, I still voted for them. Yes, I may have watched multiple times now.
I also voted for Pete Wicks, who I'm developing quite a soft spot for. This show, man. It always grabs me back.
It was a busy week last week due to the cat sitting. But, I'm now a bus pro. Each day we'd get a day ticket as it seemed pointless to bus to Kayleigh's house, then go home, to go out again late afternoon. So we explored the area on the bus, going to Sunderland one day, Durham another, and to the beach two days.
Things I found out about buses, some drivers have lead feet and break very sharply. Some park too far away from the curb, so it's a big step to get on. But most are really friendly, automatically put the ramp down so James could get on easily, and the vast majority of passengers were lovely, making sure James got one of the priority seats. In fact, the whole week I only had to stand once, James not at all. We also saw a passenger have a ridiculous, heated argument with the driver, saying he'd deliberately driven away from him at the last stop. So that was an experience.
The day we went to Durham it was to see Venom -- the Last Dance. And, I enjoyed it so much! I enjoyed being back at the Odeon too. It's usually such a big part of our lives, but now we know we can get there easily enough by bus, we'll be doing it again.
What was typical, though, is James is entitled to a bus pass meaning he can travel for free, and I can travel for free as his companion. But, due to driving, he'd let that lapse years ago. So, reapplied this week, and the bus pass arrived yesterday. The day after Kayleigh and Lucy got home so we didn't need to travel there daily again. But, it's there for the future, as it's still weeks before he'll be driving again.
That was reinforced when a letter from the hospital came stating what had been said and agreed to at his appointment two weeks ago, where the consultant wrote it's going to be a complicated and very long recovery. And yeah, we knew that but seeing it written down was still hard.
In himself, James is much better, I've unlocked the robot arm a little so he's got a small amount of movement and that's helping with fluid retention and pain. But, he's still limited loads and I still can't see him being able to drive to Newcastle and work before the new year.
Tonight we're off to the Sunderland illuminations with Kayleigh, Lucy and Bodhi, so that should be fun. Though, no doubt we'll end up spending a fortune on some flashy, plastic thing for B. You can have two insured drivers on Motability cars, so James has added Kayleigh to the insurance so she can drive us in Rosie, which is a much bigger car than hers. She's also taking us to Company on Tuesday so we can stock up again.
Tomorrow it's weight management class, but we'll only be able to stay for the first discussion part as James has another hospital appointment, and we're getting patient transport, where you have to be ready to go two hours before your appointment time. So, discussion, then we'll have to hustle back home. Where, no doubt, the transport will arrive an hour later,
