mystery hardware

Does anyone know what this piece of mystery hardware might be? I asked my dad, advice-giver extraordinnaire when it comes to this type of thing, and he didn't know. I perused the local neighborhood mom and pop hardware store the other day and didn't find anything that looked like this. Just a wild guess but it looks like a slide lock thing. The part that the bolt slides into.

I see things that look just like that all the time. I do not know the size of it in the picture but the ones I see are generally less than 1.5 inches long. They are used to hold cables in place. A cable runs through the smaller opening (along the length of the rolled metal) with a bolt or screw holding it to a surface (usually a wall or more commonly in a car to the firewall, frame, or body) goes through the larger opening penetrating the flat (wide) surface of the metal.
