I didn't really use Gradient ... but I did use coloring. I'm a sucker for grand coloring and lighting. Makes things nicer to look, at least, that's how I feel. Plus, all of these were redone. When I first starting making icons, I started with either Lost or DLM and they were pretty terrible. So, I went searching for tutorials and voila!
The font used in 15 is a TYPE of Pixel. If you go to DaFont.com, search for ERNEST! I was always looking for those little tiny fonts and I'm so glad I found it.
And the answer to your question about 32: yes! :)
