Every so often lately I get an email from the high school reunion planning commitee. Today the person in charge of planning music asked everybody to send her a list of the top three songs that epitomize their high school years. I took care of this very quickly - possibly there may have been more epitomizy songs, but these ones work quite well, ( Read more... )

The Cure, Depeche Mode, INXS, New Order.

I remember being introduced to Depeche Mode when an arts school student on a field trip from Montreal developed a liking for me and made me a tape with "Blasphemous Rumours" and "Somebody." It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship (with Depeche Mode's music, that is - the guy went back to Montreal).
