Jongwoon looked up from his desk. The thirteenth member of Super Junior stood in the doorway with his luggage.
"Hi. What's your name?"
"Kyuhyun...Cho Kyuhyun"
"Kyuhyun-sshi, welcome to my room" Jongwoon gave the boy a bright smile. "We don't have a bed for you yet, it's coming tomorrow night..."
"That's okay, I'll sleep on the floor."
"My bed is more than big enough, we can share."
Kyuhyun smiled. The other members had been quite cold towards him, it was sweet that this hyung was being nice. It didn't hurt that this hyung's voice was the one he had fallen in love with since Miracle.
Jongwoon regretted being so friendly and open towards the new kid when he was trying to sleep. At least the kid didn't turn him down, which means that he didn't get the wrong idea. Jongwoon stared at the back of the 13th member. His breathing, slow and even, soothed him, and it made him drowsy.
Maybe I could get used to a second person in my room.
But the presence of the kid, Kyuhyun, made Jongwoon a little uneasy. He had felt a pull of attraction ever since the boy had introduced himself. But he's part of Super Junior, and he's just a boy, just a dongsaeng.
He won't allow himself to act beyond small skinships that the fans will expect.
Jongwoon, you pabo. You're a hyung. And he's here to compete with you for singing parts and screen time. Don't allow him to be your weakness.
He let himself fall asleep to the rise and fall of Kyuhyun's breathing.

Kyuhyun turned out to have amazing vocals. Jongwoon was impressed by the maknae's skills. Although slightly unrefined, Kyuhyun had a lot of potential. He was also incredibly hard-working, probably trying to earn the respect of the other members. Jongwoon sighed, and helped Kyuhyun out with some of the harmonizing parts, trying to help him polish some of the notes.
Kyuhyun watched Jongwoon carefully through the glass in the studio. Although his parts were finished, Jongwoon still had plenty left to record since he had insisted that Kyuhyun record first. Kyuhyun smiled as he remembered how Jongwoon helped him with his parts while the other members had scowled after hearing his voice. Kyuhyun frowned as he remembered how the other members treated him, bullying him because he's the maknae, the 13th member. He listened to the melodic voice, and thanked god, fate, whoever led him to Jongwoon. Slowly, his eyelids shut as Jongwoon's voice washed over him.
When Jongwoon came out, he was surprised to see Kyuhyun sleeping on the sofa outside the studio. The maknae was waiting for him to finish. He smiled slightly, and sat himself next to the boy. He brought his finger up to Kyuhyun's philtrum, and stroked it gently. The poor kid was exhausted. He shifted Kyuhyun's position so that the younger was leaning on his shoulder, in a more comfortable position. Jongwoon slowly drifted to sleep with Kyuhyun's weight against him.
That was the position that Kyuhyun wakes up in. Jongwoon was still sleeping, and Kyuhyun smiled.
It was difficult, but it was okay. Because Jongwoon was on his side.

"Kyu, we won!!" Jongwoon's tears flowed from his eyes non-stop.
Kyuhyun tried not to cry as Jongwoon hugged him, sobbing. The other members, although they weren't as hostile as they were initially, still felt that Kyuhyun was out of place. He didn't deserve to cry - after all, he didn't have to go through all the emotional ups and downs that the other 12 hyungs had to go through. His eyes brimmed with tears - he was so happy as well - but he couldn't cry.
"Kyu, are you okay?" Jongwoon sniffed, when he realized that Kyuhyun wasn't speaking.
Jongwoon's eyes narrowed with suspicion, and dragged Kyuhyun back to their room. "Tell me, what's wrong?"
Kyuhyun's tears started flowing.
"I don't deserve to cry...the members probably think that I'm not allowed to cry...I didn't even go through those painful times with you before SM finalized the decision to keep Super Junior...who am I to cry?"
"I always knew you were thick, but are you this thick? Pabo, of course you're allowed to cry! You worked just as hard as all of us, we only won because you joined us! The members may not say it, but they think the same way as I do. You deserve all of this!"
Kyuhyun's tears wouldn't stop falling, as Jongwoon held him in his arms, stroking his hair and soothing the younger one. Kyuhyun sobbed, releasing all his emotions - his happiness, pent-up frustration, and the love he couldn't have.
Jongwoon held the maknae in his arms as the sobs finally died down, and Kyuhyun started to fall asleep. He whispered reassurances in Kyuhyun's ear.
"You're growing attached to the boy, aren't you?" A voice cut through Jongwoon's thoughts, and he looked around to see Leeteuk.
"The other members haven't been easy on him." He replied curtly. Leeteuk nodded, noting the accusatory look that was being given.
"I'll fix it. But Jongwoon, don't grow too attached. Don't make things awkward."
"I won't. He's just my dongsaeng." And that's all he'll ever be.
"I'm going to give out new room assignments. I think it'll be better for Kyuhyun to bond with some other members too."
Jongwoon nods, and sighs. It's his last night sharing a room with the maknae.
He continues to hold Kyuhyun in his arms as he falls asleep.

It's been 3 months since Kyuhyun moved to Sungmin's room, and Ryeowook moved to his. Kyuhyun and Sungmin were nearly inseparable, and they've become really good friends. Jongwoon was glad Kyuhyun was making progress in bonding with the other members.
He sighed, and got out of bed. He hasn't been sleeping well. It just hasn't been the same.
He wanders to living room, hoping to watch a movie. The lights are, surprisingly, on. And on the sofa, Kyuhyun.
"Why aren't you sleeping? We have a long schedule tomorrow."
"Hyung, I could ask you the same thing."
Jongwoon looks down at the floor.
"I couldn't sleep."
"Me neither."
Jongwoon sits on the sofa. The two of them share the silence.
"Hyung?"
"Mhm?"
"I've missed you. We don't spend as much time together anymore..."
"Kyu, I've missed you too."
They smile at each other. Kyu wordlessly moves closer to Jongwoon, and hugs him. Jongwoon shuts his eyes as he feels the familiar weight in his arms.
This feels right. This feels like home.
The two of them fall asleep.
The other members find them like that together the next morning.
Heechul takes a photo of the two snuggled together on the sofa, still oblivious to the world.

He rushed out of the house, despite the manager's protests, and drove to the hospital as soon as he could.

The red and blue sirens, the sounds are all imprinted on his memory. His heart lurched. Kyuhyun...his maknae...it couldn't be true.
He waited outside the ER for hours. The other members had arrived, tried to calm Jongwoon down. Jongwoon paced - he was too restless.
"Hyung! Stop it! It isn't helping Kyuhyun!"
"I can't stay still! I will....end up breaking down. I can't..."
The members had stopped trying to get Jongwoon to calm down. It was useless.
The news that Kyuhyun was okay brought relief to all the members. Jongwoon was the first into Kyuhyun's room.
"Kyu-ah! Don't do this to me. Don't..."
The other members saw Jongwoon's tears, and decided to head back and give Jongwoon some privacy. Eunhyuk, Leeteuk and Shindong were also in a different hospital room, so they decided to go look after those three and update them about Kyuhyun's situation.
Jongwoon was oblivious to the world.
"Kyu...don't leave me. Please don't leave me. I...love you. I know I can't, but please don't leave me. Stay by my side at least. I don't mind if I have to watch you marry a beautiful girl, have children, and be happy without me, but please don't leave me alone right now. I can't bear it...without you. I promise I'll never be angry with you again when you tease me, or tell you to stop playing Starcraft at 4 in the morning. I won't touch your philtrum if you don't want me to..."
Jongwoon stayed by Kyuhyun's side night after night. The other members tried to get him to go back, to get some rest, but he refused to leave. He fell asleep by Kyuhyun's side every night, holding his hand tightly, refusing to let go.
He woke up to the feeling of a tight grip on his hand. He opened his eyes, to see Kyuhyun's chocolate brown orbs staring back into his own.
"Hyung, thank you. You gave me strength to come back."
Their hands remained interlocked until Jongwoon was forcefully removed from the hospital room by Leeteuk and Heechul (because the main vocal needed proper sleep and rest).

"Uhm, before you hang up...hyung, you know how I was in that accident a year ago...?"
"Kyu...why are you bringing this up again?"

A sigh of relief from Kyuhyun's end could be heard.
The two fell asleep while they were still on the phone. Both had grins plastered on their faces.

A/N: I guess I'm on a roll with writing lately! Kinda just sprung out from nowhere - guess I'm a little sleep deprived, so all that I think about right now is sleep. So I figured I might as well write about it heh. Got a lot of inspiration from the Strong Heart episode where Kyuhyun talks about how difficult it was being the 13th member - I made Yesung a good guy though. I don't have the heart to have Yesung make Kyuhyun sleep on the floor >.<
