The trees stretch up to the sky, and from where Kyuhyun’s standing, you can’t see the top.
It was called Cloud Forest for a reason - the trees grow so tall that they can almost touch the heavens.
Kyuhyun wishes he was a tree, and that he could touch the heavens. The heavens that took Jongwoon away from him.
Kyuhyun, are you sure you’re okay being by yourself? I know Jongwoon’s…accident….hurt you the most out of all of us.
As Super Junior’s leader and as your hyung, I’ll always be here for you. If you even need to talk about Jongwoon’s accident.
The other members, especially Leeteuk and Kibum, still can’t accept that he’s gone. Kyuhyun has. How else does he explain the lonely nights, the nights without Jongwoon’s arms around him? Or the missing sounds of the rise and fall of Jongwoon’s breathing? Or the slowly fading scent of Jongwoon in their room? Kyuhyun knows that Jongwoon is gone, even if the other members don’t accept it.
God must really love Jongwoon. Kyuhyun-ah, don’t feel too bad. Jongwoon hyung’s in a better place now.
Kyuhyun feels like crying. Siwon left out that God obviously didn’t love him enough to allow Jongwoon to stay by his side. Kyuhyun continues walking through Cloud Forest, trying to find Jongwoon. Any hint of him. His scent, his warmth. Any hint that Kyuhyun is not alone.
Kyuhyun, you can always share a room with us if you get lonely. It might be better to not be alone.
Yes, come stay with us. We’ll keep you company.
But he was still alone. Staying in a room with Ryeowook and Sungmin wasn’t the same. Although he had more roommates now, he was lonelier than ever. It would never be the same as being with Jongwoon. He loved Jongwoon, but he was only allowed to live 6 months of happiness, utter happiness, before the accident occurred.
Cheer up, at least you both managed to spend time with each other before he left. It would’ve sucked more if you never got the courage to confess.
I’m…sorry kid. He died painlessly though. At least we can take consolation from the fact he didn’t suffer…
Heechul and Kangin was right. Kyuhyun was glad that he confessed (finally) to his beloved hyung, and he was glad Jongwoon didn’t ache all over when he died. But Kyuhyun is the one in pain. His heart completely shattered the day he found out that Jongwoon was gone, and he’s been living an empty life ever since. He would never hear his beloved’s laughter, or his husky deep voice when he sings, or the sound of his name (“Kyu-ah, let’s go out today!”) ever again. His kisses, his touches. All gone.
We miss him too Kyuhyun.
If you ever need to talk to someone, we’ll be more than happy to listen.
It isn’t the same for Eunhyuk and Donghae though. They weren’t in love with Jongwoon. They wouldn’t understand how his death led to the collapse of Kyuhyun’s universe. He lost not only his lover, but also his best friend. His favorite hyung.
Jongwoon wouldn’t want to see you like this Kyuhyun. You need to cheer up.
If you want, you can come with us to China, maybe it’ll be better for you.
Focus on other things, it’ll help ease the pain.
The 3 Chinese members suggested leaving this place, leaving the only places that reminded him of Jongwoon. Hangeng didn’t understand that Kyuhyun wanted to grasp whatever he could to be reminded of Jongwoon. Zhou Mi didn’t understand that Kyuhyun needed to stay close to all the memories or else he’d go insane. Henry didn’t understand that focusing on other things wouldn’t help Kyuhyun with forgetting the pain. Everywhere Kyuhyun went, even if he left Seoul, the memories would follow.
Please, it hurts us to see you like this. We can hear you crying every night.
Shindong doesn’t know that Kyuhyun would if he could. He wishes that he didn’t think about Jongwoon, he wishes that the car crash never happened. Tears blind him as he continues searching for Jongwoon’s scent in this forest.
Suddenly, he feels peace. He stops. He looks up, and a ray of sunlight hits his face through the spaces between the leaves. It warmed him up, just like Jongwoon’s smile.
Maybe he’ll stay here for a while with Jongwoon.
He lies down on the forest floor, looking up to the sky. Faintly, he hears the sound of Jongwoon’s singing. He closes his eyes as Jongwoon embraces him.
I can’t live without you Jongwoon. It has to be you.
Kyuhyun knows now that it was called Cloud Forest for a reason - it’s where Jongwoon could be found.
The forest is eerily quiet.
A/N: Something different from what I normally write - been on a dry spell lately, so I decided to use the 10 settings challenge as prompts. Cloud Forest sounds pretty lame, but imagine how beautiful it'd be if it was in Chinese/Japanese/possible Korean?! Hehe. Anyways, I kinda rushed this amidst all the other work I need to do for school (apologies). The other fics for the 10 settings won't be as depressing (I think this will be the most depressing of all...), And it's a really bad summary - it sounds a little misleading since it seems bright and optimistic. And what happens in the end? Well, that's up to your interpretation...
