Reeled In
Jongwoon was convinced that it was impossible not to love Kyuhyun. Everyone loved Kyuhyun. He was originally planning on hating the newest member of Super Junior, the other main vocal. But instead, he stroked Kyuhyun’s hair as Kyuhyun laid his head on Jongwoon’s lap.
Jongwoon had been reeled in by Kyuhyun.
Although Jongwoon had been cold towards Kyuhyun, the maknae had tried to do everything possible to break down the barriers that Jongwoon had put up against him. Volunteering to help Jongwoon with chores, sitting on the couch to watch TV with him, insisting that Jongwoon needed to help him with his singing techniques. The boy could sing already, but Leeteuk had forced Jongwoon into a practice room with Kyuhyun.
The nickname “evil maknae” described Kyuhyun perfectly. He knew how to get what he wanted.
There was a look of bliss on Kyuhyun’s face as he fell asleep in Jongwoon’s arms.
Jongwoon was stubborn at first, but Kyuhyun had cornered him in his room one night
“Hyung. Look…I know you despise me. But I really like you. You’re the reason why I wanted to join Super Junior. I heard your voice…and I flipped. I fell in love with you. I just wanted to tell you."
Kyuhyun blushed, and ran out of the room. Jongwoon stared off into space, trying to collect his thoughts.
Kyuhyun had started to avoid Jongwoon after his sudden confession, but Jongwoon had begun to see Kyuhyun in a whole new light. He realized that he missed having him around all the time. Jongwoon couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment that he had fallen for Kyuhyun, but the game-addicted maknae had managed to push his way into Jongwoon’s heart.
Everyone else had gone out for schedules. Kyuhyun was in the kitchen trying to make ramen when Jongwoon snaked his arms around Kyuhyun’s waist, pulling him into a back hug.
“You suck at cooking ramen. I’ll cook tonight.”
Kyuhyun’s dorky grin was engraved on Jongwoon’s brain as Kyuhyun leaned back and gently pecked Jongwoon on the cheek.
It was the first of many, many skinships that they shared later on, a milestone in their relationship.
So Jongwoon concluded it was impossible not to love the maknae - he had a habit of reeling you in even against your own will.
Then again, as he pressed his lips to Kyuhyun’s, he decided he wouldn’t want it any other way.
Halcyon
Kyuhyun had a mild panic attack when he woke up and couldn’t find his laptop. It was always by his bedside, so when he turned over and felt an empty table, he knew it was missing.
He ran out into the dorm, and saw Jongwoon and Ryeowook sitting at the kitchen eating pancakes. His stomach grumbled, but he had more important things to do.
“Wookie, did you take my laptop again? To watch High Kick?”
Ryeowook held his hands up as if to plead innocent, and glanced at Jongwoon. Kyuhyun narrowed his eyes in suspicion. Jongwoon was drinking his daily cup of coffee nonchalantly. Ryeowook stood up, getting ready to leave.
“Good luck hyung.”
“Thanks Wookie. Have fun with Min”
“I will! Bye Kyuhyun!”
Kyuhyun sighed in exasperation as Ryeowook left, and he turned to Jongwoon.
“Hyung, did you take my laptop?”
“Yep.” Jongwoon continued sipping on his coffee, ignoring the maknae’s glares. “Do you want it back?”
“Of course I want it back."
“Well then, you have to go out with me today.”
“Are you blackmailing me into going on a date with you?”
“Yep.” Jongwoon smirked, and Kyuhyun banged his head on the table. Although he was the “evil” maknae, no one was more evil than his boyfriend when he wanted something.
---
6 hours and 24 minutes later, Kyuhyun completely forgot about his laptop. He was at the Han River with Jongwoon’s arms wrapped around him, waiting for the sunset. He leaned back and enjoyed the feeling of having his boyfriend encircle him. Jongwoon gently kissed the top of Kyuhyun’s head.
“See, didn’t I tell you it would be fun to go out with me?”
“I remember distinctly that you blackmailed me into going out with you today.”
“But wasn’t it fun?”
Kyuhyun nodded and smiled. Jongwoon had dragged him out of the house, and forced him to a day outdoors. A bike ride along the Han River, a hunt for four-leaved clovers (Kyuhyun had pointed out that there weren’t any clovers, but Jongwoon had insisted), a picnic, and a water balloon fight had brought them to their current location.
The sky was painted with orange, red and yellow. Jongwoon laced his fingers with Kyuhyun’s, and the two shared a sweet kiss as the sun slowly hid from the world. Kyuhyun enjoyed the halcyon days he spent with Jongwoon, and secretly memorized every detail of the moment to add to his stash of memories.
He put his hand over Jongwoon’s mouth when Jongwoon was about to lean over for another kiss.
“Not until you give me my laptop back.”
Ethereal
The first time Kyuhyun heard Jongwoon’s voice, it had seemed ethereal to him. The deep husky baritone had shot straight to his heart. He had been roaming around the practice rooms when he heard the singing. Inexplicably, he had been drawn towards it, but the room was empty by the time he got there. Kyuhyun was convinced he was in love with the voice, but he didn’t know who it belonged to.
It wasn’t until the Super Junior ’05 debut that Kyuhyun heard that voice again. He searched on the screen, re-watching the stage again and again, to find a hint of the voice’s owner. There were too many members, and Kyuhyun wasn’t sure whose voice had captured his heart.
Kyuhyun later found out that it was Yesung, Kim Jongwoon, who possessed the amazing voice. He was thrilled when he heard he would be joining Super Junior, as it meant that he could sing with Yesung. When he started following Jongwoon on variety shows, he fell even more in love with the man. Kyuhyun thought Jongwoon was flawless - his voice, looks and personality were perfect. Although the others had joked that Jongwoon was average, Kyuhyun thought he was extraordinary, ethereal. He was sure that Jongwoon was the one, and that destiny was pulling them together.
However, his certainty began to falter as he lived with Jongwoon. He soon discovered all of Jongwoon’s shortcomings, and Kyuhyun realized that Jongwoon wasn’t as perfect as he had imagined. He didn’t treat Kyuhyun very nicely, and Kyuhyun knew that Jongwoon had put up barriers against him. Despite all this, Kyuhyun had still run to him, like an idiot, and confessed his feelings. He knew Jongwoon would never love him back, but he needed to say it out loud before he drowned in his emotions.
But it wasn’t until Jongwoon had admitted to reciprocating Kyuhyun’s feelings that Kyuhyun understood. Jongwoon wasn’t ethereal - he was a human being, just like Kyuhyun. But he was perfect in all his imperfections. He loved Jongwoon despite his weird obsessions with turtles and philtrums, just as Jongwoon loved him despite his addiction to Starcraft.
Love wasn’t supposed to be ethereal in the first place.
He was right about one thing though - destiny had pulled them together.
New Year’s Eve
Jongwoon couldn’t find Kyuhyun anywhere. The Gayo Daejun had just finished, and his boyfriend had just disappeared amongst the sea of people. Jongwoon was a little disappointed - he wanted to spend the countdown to 2012 with Kyuhyun, especially since Jongwoon wasn’t sure if it would be the last before his military enlistment.
Kyuhyun, where the hell are you?
He suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder. He spun around
“Kyu-ah, why did you - oh, hi Hyukkie.”
“Aw, do you have to make it so obvious that you’re disappointed I’m not our lovely maknae?”
“Oh shut up.”
“Are you sure you want me to? I know where he is…” Hyukjae couldn’t help but laugh as Jongwoon’s expression brightened. “He told me to tell you to go by the south entrance…pfft, he doesn’t even thank me for telling him.” Jongwoon had run off before Hyukjae had finished his sentence, eager to find Kyuhyun before the end of 2011.
---
It was surprisingly empty, but Jongwoon quickly saw Kyuhyun’s silhouette by the streetlamp.
“Kyu-ah!” Jongwoon ran over and wrapped his arms around Kyuhyun. “Where did you run off to? I was looking for you.”
Kyuhyun grinned and pecked Jongwoon on the lips.
“I was just getting something ready…follow me.” He took Jongwoon’s hand.
The two walked in silence for 15 minutes before arriving at an empty field.
11:57pm.
Kyuhyun sat Jongwoon down, and laid his head on Jongwoon’s lap. It had become a habit of sorts during their relationship, and Jongwoon absent-mindedly stroked Kyuhyun’s hair.
“Favorite moment of 2011?”
“All of the ones with you.”
“Stop being so cheesy…if you had to name one?”
“Hm…when you called me at midnight for my birthday, and gave me that giant turtle toy.”
“But I always call you at midnight for your birthday.”
“I know. But it’s still one of my favorite moments every year. What about your favorite moment?”
“When you finally posted that selca of ours on your Twitter.”
“Jealous of Wookie again, are we?” Jongwoon grinned.
“Haha, why would I be jealous? Everyone knows how much you love me. But you really should post more photos of us up.”
“I will.”
“New year’s resolution?”
“If you insist.”
Jongwoon smiled as Kyuhyun sat up.
11:59PM.
“It’s nearly midnight.”
“Yep.” Kyuhyun took out a lighter. “10…9…8...” He took a large step away from Jongwoon for each number. “7…6…5…4…3…2…1”
Kyuhyun quickly lit something and then ran back, towards Jongwoon. He flung his arms around Jongwoon and kissed him as mini-fireworks set off behind him.
“It’s 2012 now. Happy new year love.”
---
“So…what are your new year’s resolutions?”
“To sleep more instead of watching too many movies, to tweet more photos for our fans...and to love Cho Kyuhyun even more than I did last year.”
Kyuhyun’s eyes misted, and he leaned into Jongwoon. Jongwoon wrapped his arms around Kyuhyun.
“I love you Kim Jongwoon.”
“I know. I love you too Cho Kyuhyun.”

A/N: HAPPY BIRTHDAY RHEN! This is a little late, but hope you like it :) Did you get that the titles of the drabbles spell out your name? :D:D I tried to be clever...
I tried to restrain myself, but somehow unrequited love made it's way into this again. I seriously need to brush up my fluff writing skills :( Must admit that it's refreshing to write something that isn't part of the Settings Challenge. It's a little choppy, but hopefully you guys get the general gist. They can be read as related or not, up to your own personal interpretation ^^
Happy New Year! 2012! May it be even better than 2011 :)
