Buy travel/flight socks, helps prevent DVT. Don't bother with books most decent airlines have tvs in the seats, save the weight. Plan where your going to go in advance like public transport cards and such. Make sure your jabs are up to date. Sort insurance, foreign countries will try and get you go private rather than NHS.
Been out of Europe a few times. I still think the flights are the worst part really. Other than that its fine.
Actually, any time you are traveling long distances for prolonged periods of time I recommend that you bring clothes that can be washed in sinks and keep in mind that some things you can buy over there (e.g. mosquito nets, condoms, prostitutes, beer). Also, your bank will usually give you better exchange rates than the money exchange folks in the airport, so bring a debit card and/or credit card and pay for stuff with those or take money out of ATMs with them.
He's only just moved there fairly recently. His name is Oscar and works in sales of veterinary pharmaceuticals. He's also among the nicest and most pleasant people I've ever met. I doubt that you know him, though. He went to GaTech and is a few years older than me. He seems to be unhappy with the place and can't seem to meet people. Do you have any tips for him or are you looking for someone with whom to watch sci-fi shows?
