Dir en grey concert review 2/12 Detroit

Feb 12, 2007 23:49

Wow. Just...wow. I don't know what else to say. I just got back from the Detroit Inward Scream concert. It was so unbelievable. I had been having a panic attack earlier while I was at school, because I was kind of freaking out about the concert. But everything was fine. I went with my cousin (Jon), my dad, and my cousin's aunt. I thought we'd be late, since we had to pick my cousin's aunt up from her work at 6:00pm. But we got there about when doors opened.

I forgot how cold Michigan was. x.x We were in line for like an hour, and I couldn't feel my toes anymore. It was cold. There were some people in the line wearing skirts and shorts. I felt so sorry for them. There were some people behind us that were so rude. They kept talking about orgys and wanted to pay people for sex. My cousin's aunt was seriously getting ready to smack them. I was getting fed up, as well.

I had made a shirt for the concert. It was red, and it had a big picture of Die on the front, with the words 'guitar god'. Then, on the back it had 'Die Dir en grey' on the back. I'll have to see if I can take a picture of it later. When I got inside, a girl came up to me and told me my shirt was fucking sweet. Then she gave me a high five, but we kept missing. XD I don't know who you are, but you were awesome!

We went upstairs on the balcony. We went on the right side, because I hoped to see Die a little better. We weren't up real close, but I could still see everyone pretty good. My dad and I went down so that I could buy some stuff. I got both of the shirts, a poster, and two dog tags (one for me, and one for drangedsymphony, because I promised to get her one). They were sold out of wristbands, unfortunately. Then, my cousin bought a sticker, a dogtag, a poster, and the ASOM single.

We missed Bleed the Dream, but we saw Fair to Midland. They weren't that good. Then, they came out to set up Dir en grey's equipment. When the lights finally dimmed, everyone cheered. They didn't do GDS for some reason. They just all walked out. I screamed so loud, I finally got to see them! I went to the FVT, but I wasn't really close. I could see everyone pretty good, especially Die.

They opened with The Final, my favorite song. I screamed excitedly at Jon. It was so cool. I sang my heart out along with them. I don't remember the set list exactly, but this is what I remember:

The Final
Agitated Screams of Maggots
Merciless Cult
Ryojoku no ame
Obscure
Kasumi
Kodoku ni shisu, yueni kodoku
Itoshisa ha fuhai nitsuki
Dead Tree
Clever Sleazoid
C
The IID Empire
Machiavellism
Grief
Disabled Complexes
Saku
The Fatal Believer
Beautiful Dirt

I know I must be missing some, and their not in order. Sorry. x.x

I pretty much kept my eyes on Die. He just commanded my attention. Man, can he play! I absolutely love his guitar playing. He just does it so...expertly, yet at the same time, it takes him no effort. I remember at one point that I just had to stop my headbanging and just stare at him. He looked so much like an angel. It was just...wow. He is such an inspiration to me.

I did let my eyes wonder onto Kyo every now and then, and then I would gaze at everyone else in turn. Kyo was so awesome. He put his heart into everything. I had great respect for Toshiya. He played so well. Kaoru was fun to watch. Shinya was amazing with his mad drumming skills.

I totally just let my self free at the concert. I screamed my lungs out, sang my heart out, and headbanged so hard. I was surprised at myself. But I could just let go and express myself. During Itoshisa, I tried to hold it back, but the urge to play guitar along with Die was so strong. So, I may have looked like a dork, but I jammed out on my air guitar. I continued to do so along with random songs. The people around me didn't seem to get into it as much, but I was just in my own little world. It was simply amazing.

A few random things:
- Kyo did the thing where he pulls down his pants to just below his hips. He was wearing red underwear today
- I flipped Die off a couple times, but I don't think he noticed XD
- At one point, Toshiya pointed up to the balcony we were on. I had no idea who he was pointing at, but I pointed right back at him.
- I didn't get one of the presale things. Oh well. x.x
- They played The Final, Kasumi, Ryojoku no Ame, and C. These were the songs that I was really hoping they'd play. I rocked out so hard at these songs.
- Kyo had the 'Rape me' bucket at the end. It was funny. XD
- Some people were doing this weird mosh pit circle thing. It was odd, and kind of distracting.
- They tried to throw a few things up to the balcony, but they didn't get as far as we were.
- Kyo's chanting was so beautiful.
- It's awesome to sing with a crowd.
- Neither Jon or I can figure out who our posters are signed by. They just look like scribbles. o.o;;
- The guy who was selling the merchadise thought my shirt was cool. :D

I may have missed a few things, but I'm just so tired. I'm going to be sore tomorrow. I had the time of my life. I hope everyone else there had fun, and I hope everyone else who goes to a concert has a good time. It's definitely worth it.

Edit: I believe my signiture is Toshiya's. :)

Edit 2: Jon's signiture is Shinya's, lol. And I added a few more songs to the set list.
