Keep

Tuti heard a yell and what sounded like a small avalanche from the opposite end of Takashi's apartment. Curious, he peered around the corner from the kitchen to find Takashi standing amidst the entire contents of his hall closet. Fighting laughter, Tuti managed to ask, "Everything alright?"

Takashi turned, pouting. "I think it might be time to clean this out."

At this, Tuti did laugh, and moved down the hall to stand next to Takashi, slinging an arm around his shoulders. "Good thing we've got the night off then, right?"

Takashi looked over at him in surprise. "Are you serious? This can wait-"

"Until when? Next month? Come on, if we do it together, it'll go quick , and then we can move on to," he leaned in and kissed the side of Takashi's neck, "better things."

Takashi leaned into Tuti's embrace a little more, and Tuti squeezed him tight for a moment before he let go and they both sat down to tackle the mess.

They worked efficiently, creating only two piles: Keep, and Really, Takashi?.

About 3/4 of the way through, Tuti opened a shoebox to find inside a pink and grey scarf, and something that made him stop and grin.

It was a strip of photos of himself and Takashi, taken in one of those silly photo booths that teenage girls loved. His memories of the night they were taken were hazy, both from time and the fact that a significant amount of alcohol had been consumed by both of them on that occasion, but he did remember taking them.

He remembered because he remembered the feeling he'd had as they'd walked home from the bar that night. It was a party not long after they'd finally managed to grow backbones and put into words how they felt about each other, and for Tuti, knowing that Takashi felt the same had filled him with a weird quiet joy that just didn't fade.

It was that, more than the alcohol, that made Tuti feel like anything, everything was a good idea- even silly romantic gestures that Tuti often flinched at.

"Oi!"

Tuti was startled out of his memories by a tennis ball bouncing off the side of his head.

"What are you staring at?" Takashi asked with a tiny smirk.

Still rubbing the side of his head, Tuti held up the strip of photos. Takashi squinted for a second in confusion, but when he recognized the pictures, he grinned wide.

"I forgot about those," he said, and scooted closer to Tuti to look at them.

He was silent for a moment, seemingly getting lost in thought himself as he looked at the pictures. Tuti wanted to poke him out of it, but Takashi looked so cute with his head cocked to the side and a small smile on his face, Tuti just couldn't.

"Its like...flashes of us...the entire us, you know?" Takashi said. Tuti didn't know, and it must have shown on his face, because Takashi pushed forward with more explanation.

"Okay, look, this first one, that's how we were in the beginning- we barely knew each other, got pushed together, doesn't seem like we should fit, but we do. The second one- that's after we became good friends, goofing off every second we weren't rehearsing. The third one- that in-between time we had, where we had those weird staring contests- hey now-," he stopped, because Tuti couldn't hold back his laughter, "You know what I'm talking about, I know you do; anyway, and each time we'd chicken out and pretend our shoes were interesting or whatever. And the fourth one, well, if you don't know what that shows, then I'm-"

Whatever Takashi was threatening was cut off by Tuti pulling him close and kissing him as soundly as he could manage.

When they pulled apart, breathing heavily, Takashi managed to ask, "Keep?"

Tuti's grip on Takashi tightened, and he nodded.

"Definitely."
