Some Baking Adventures

Jul 10, 2007 14:02

Finally I had time to try one Marguerite recipe I got from ego_chan some time ago. Lemon cookies with marmalade, meringue, and sprinkles on top (though I didn't have any sprinkles. Or I did, but... their "best before" was 2002. You think I could have used them anyway ( Read more... )

My meringue's weren't near fluffy enough by the illustration in my cookie book. xD The ones in the cook book had amazing tall frosting. Looked like marshmallows. Mine fail in comparison.

But then, I'm also all about how the cookies taste over appearence. And a secret: ...I didn't check how old my sprinkles were. xD

But if your cookies are yumamy, then all is good. As long as no-one else eating them knows what a Marguerite is, what can they say besides how delicious they are? xDxDxDDDDD

xD I think I'll try again one of these days. I have some marmalade left, and as I don't use it for anything else, I might as well bake some more... and anyway, if the result is that delicious... xD Yep, I think I'll do some baking next week again.

(Crap. Just remembered - my work starts next week. The shoe selling. x.x)

Hmm. I've not seen the book's picture, obviously, but I'd say that yours definitely look quite fine as they are. No need for any marshmallows. xD

I eat marmalade on everything: sandwiches, toast, tea, ice cream, meat, salad...etc, etc, basically anything I can stomach or that I eat and think "I wonder how this would taste with maramalade?"

My tastes are broken, methinks. That, and I would probably never find a use for marmalade either if I didn't try to put it on everything.

(Well, work is nice. Sometimes.)

xD Somehow I was thinking that you'd most likely face no trouble in coming up with ways to use marmalade. It's kind of funny... the only times I put marmalade on toast is when I'm traveling and eating breakfast at the hotel. I guess I could do it home too, but somehow I never do.

That's such an useful recipe, btw. You can make both Marguerites and those "iced ginger-cookie-thingys" with it (though maybe I should leave the marmalade out of the latter.) ^^

Heh... I'm a bit amused about them. My father came home, tasted them, and said "it's a good thing I didn't buy those pumpernickels at the store". ...here I thought I was making Marguerites, but as he said that, I realized that yes, those things are pumpernickels. ^o^ (I'm not sure if that's the right word in English. They're... gingerbread-like cookies with thin frosting. No marmalade, though, as mine have, but... otherwise those things I made are very much like them.)

I thought they looked like iced ginger-cookie-thingys, too, but I dunno what those are called. I just call them cookies. xDxD I didn't mention them in my comment because I realised I didn't know what they were called, but your cookies look like them. lol. I have a tiny vocabulary when it comes to nouns. :D

(I'm also one of those people who, when I look at something like two different trees, I call them both "a tree", even if one's an oak and the other's a maple. Pfft. Like I know the difference. I mean, I see a difference and know they are not the same kind of tree, I just dunno what the correct name is. ...Needless to say, I confuse lots of people when I give them directions.)

Hurraahuuto mahtavalle hellan haltijalle!

Mun motto vois olla: " Keep it simple and stupid, so that even Yliposto can manage it." ^^

Piirakat tuntuu olevan enemmän mun alaa... mmmm, raparperipiirakkaa. Toivottavasti ehdit viäntää. ^^
