Hey everyone, the fanfiction challenges are starting afresh - run by myself and
cantstopdreamin. We hope you're all as excited as we are for the new challenges to start. Anyone who is a member of
tv_haven can enter the challenges. They will run mostly in the same way they did before, with a few alterations so we're going to run through those before we explain the new challenge...
The Rules:
1. You can write about any fandom - tv shows, books, movies, etc. Crossovers are welcome. The only things that aren't allowed are real-person fic and original fiction.
2. Your entries can be either in the form of a drabble or a full-length fic.
---> Drabble entries have a maximum word count of 250 words. There is no set minimum but common sense should tell you if it's too short - three words doesn't make a fic, not even a drabble.
---> Full-length fic entries have a minimum word count of 850 words. There is no set maximum so you can write as much as you like. [Please note that although this category of fics is being called 'full-length' that doesn't mean the entries have to be multi-chapter fics. One-shots are perfectly acceptable & welcome it's just that multi-chapter fics are an option too.]
3. You can submit as many or as few entries as you like. It is not necessary to write both a drabble and a full-length fic but you can if you wish - or write multiple drabbles, multiple full-length fics, etc.
4. You should upload your entry anywhere that will host fanfiction and allows anyone to read the fics without having to be a member of it - e.g. fanfiction.net or your own livejournal (but if the latter you must leave the entry unlocked so that people you aren't lj friends with can still read it).
5. Once your entry is uploaded to submit it you must post a link to it in a comment to this post. Please follow the following format:
Subject Line:
entry type, title, fandom
Comment:
Title:
Author:
Fandom:
Main character/pairing:

Author's note: (if necessary)
Warnings: (if necessary - spoilers, sexual content, etc)

Notes to the rules:
+ All the fics will be voted on, including when participants submit more than one fic. This rule may be edited in the future and participants may be asked to choose their favourite(s) to be put up for voting, but for now all fics entered will be put up for voting.
+ If there is a minimum of 5 drabbles and 5 full-length fics entered then voting will be divided into two and awards given to the best drabbles & best full-length fics seperately. However, if the total entries is less than this then the voting will be combined and awards given to the best entries overall.
Hopefully, everyone understands the rules. Now it's time to get on with the new challenge! :)
The Challenge: 5 Parts...
The theme for this challenge is that your fic should be divided into five parts. Some of you (if not all) have probably seen fics written in the trend where the story is divided into five parts and the challenge this time is for you to do that. The storyline is completely up to you - it can be fluffy, angsty, long, short, sweet, melodramatic - whatever, as long as the format/outline of the story is in five sections. - Now that doesn't mean that the five parts have to be a five-chapters and the fic has to be really long. Long is fine if you want to/have time but a short one-parter where the five sections are just five paragraphs is fine too.
Some example stories include 'Five powers Peter Petrelli wished he had', 'Five times Meredith Grey didn't want to be a doctor', 'Five ways Sawyer tried to get off the island' & 'Five times Lucas Scott got slapped'. You are also welcome to vary the format a little - for example, 'Four people Ned didn't bring back to life (and one person he did)' or 'Three times Ross & Rachel didn't break up (and two times they did)'.
Also, your title doesn't have to be reflective of the fic format (E.g. if I wrote a story about five instances where Lucas Scott got slapped I might just call it 'Bitchslapped!!' and have the 'five times...' as the subtitle or summary) but I used titles that did to make it clearer.
I hope I haven't completely confused anyone but if you have any questions please leave a comment and we'll get back to you ASAP. None of the titles I've given are actual stories (as far as I know) they're just made-up ones to give you an idea of what we mean. As I said the storyline in your fic is totally your call just as long as the format follows the challenge's rules.
The deadline for fics is Tuesday 30th September so all your entries should be submitted by then.
The deadline for fics has been extended to Sunday 26th October so all your entries should be submitted by then.
We hope to see lots of entries for this challenge! - Especially now that drabbles are allowed you can enter much shorter fics even if you only have a small amount of time/inspiration - plus there's four weeks to write in so there's no excuse for not entering. We're really looking forward to receiving some great fics from you. ;)
Also, don't forget to
cast your vote on the entries for the last fanfic challenge! :)
