Why do I still care?

Tonight during the commericals of Grey's Anatomy, I actually found myself wanting to see a Lost promo.  I cannot believe that I am actually looking forward to February 7th.  Of course, it'll probably just come back and piss me off even more, but for now I'll just let myself get a tiny bit excited.

Spoilers/Speculation

It's totally possible! JJ did a three year time jump on Alias and it worked. I wouldn't mind, actually, if they did a time jump, because it tends to make things more interesting. Casual viewers might not like it as much though, so there is a downside to it...

I've never watched Alias, but I probably would have liked it. Did they do a time jump between seasons or in the middle of a season? I think it could work for Lost, but I agree that it could be very confusing for casual viewers.

They actually did the time jump at the end of season two, if I remember correctly, and season three picked up right where season two left off. The last five minutes of the second season finale was Sydney waking up with three years of her life missing. It was executed really well but the quality of the show declined after that because JJ got distracted with Lost, etc.

And if you get the chance, rent the first season of Alias. It's really well done and really addicting! :D

That sounds cool, and if JJ was willingly to do it with one show, why not with another? It does seem like JJ gets bored quickly with his projects.

I would like to rent Alias... that should be my next project after I finish all 5 seasons of 24. I get addicted to shows very easily!

I can't believe I never thought about a time jump before! It does make sense, especially since (as _noa mentioned) Alias did it. (Speaking of which, the show was never the same for me; but I think that's more because IMO the quality went way down, not because of the time jump.)

All in all, I think things are looking up a lot sooner than I expected, maybe season 3 won't be a total bust after all.

I feel that way, too, but I'm kind of scared that I'm getting my hopes up too much.

I think a time jump could really work well with Lost, but I still don't trust the TPTB after the mini-season. I'm trying not to get my hopes up either, but it's hard because there's something about Lost that makes you keep coming back!

I know! It makes me both love and hate the show.
