Emmy Nominations

I can't say I'm all that suprised that Friday Night Lights got snubbed, but I'm still disappointed. It would've been good exposure for the show. At the very least, the show itself, Kyle Chandler, and Connie Britton should have gotten nominations, but of course not.  I had never read much about the Emmy selection process until this summer, and it ( Read more... )

I'm actually *stunned* that FNL got snubbed because I can't imagine a world in which Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler aren't nominated. :0

I'm very, very happy for Jenna, but meh... I'm not watching. I knew they wouldn't nominate Matthew Fox though the irony with Lost is that the episode submitted, the finale was KICKASS and very... unlike most of the season. So I have no idea what they took into account, the episode (nominated for writing, directing, technical categories... and it was v. good and recognized) or the season as a whole.

I really don't like living in a world where the show isn't nominated and was in danger of being cancelled after just one season. It isn't right.

I'll probably still watch to support The Office and its cast, but I just don't take them very seriously. It just seems like the same shows and same people get recognized every year, and the true standouts of each season get overlooked.

Yep, I won't be watching the Emmys because I find them ridiculous. This happens every year. The same three or four shows are nominated in everything and everything else, especially the underdog like FNL, gets shut out. I mean, I watch and like Heroes, but Outstanding Drama? I'm not sure. I'm so damn tired of the Sopranos and very glad that this is it's last year to be nominated. I also watch and very much like Boston Legal, but I don't particularly see why it's so popular at the Emmys. Matthew Fox definitely did get snubbed, but my biggest acting nomination gripe is LAUREN GRAHAM!!!!! I'm not really surprised, as she's never been given the recognition she deserves, but it makes me furious. For seven years she was the best comedic actress on television, and that should be acknowledged.

The FNL snub is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Ugly Betty is a good show and I really enjoy it, but it was the new show to sweep the nominations, and it's not that good. There is nothing better on television that FNL and when a panel can't ( ... )

I agree about Heroes even though it was proably my 3rd favorite show this season. It got that spot because I was so pissed at Lost and needed something similar to fill the void. It's a good show (the Company Man episode might be my favorite episode of any show this season), but it's far from perfect. I also really enjoy Grey's and House, but I didn't get nearly as much out them this season as I did with Friday Night Lights. It's just ridiculous. I know the Emmys don't mean much anymore, but any positive exposure for FNL would've been great. And I agree about Lauren Graham, that's sad too. She's probably the best comedic & dramatic actress on TV. I hope she one day gets the recognition she deserves. I also enjoy Ugly Betty, but I don't think it deserves so much attention. Plus when I think of comedies, I think of The Office or How I Met Your Mother, not these drama/comedy crossovers like Ugly Betty & Desperate Housewives ( ... )
