Mrrr... I feel like my 3 years worth of piano lessons have totally gone down the drain. I mean, I never got past 5th grade (cause I lost interest, LOL) >____>;;; and I never practiced properly ;__;
cry.

I still really like the piano though (I JUST SUCK AT IT MYSELF). =/

moo, ok, I have a really random question... do you think those scales that we're forced to learn during lessons actually help you with your overall playing techniques? O__o (cause I'll kick myself if they do.. HAHAHAHA) XD

very much self-taught. but i've stopped teaching myself since I couldn't decide whether to concentrate on the guitar or the keyboard ~_~
Anyway, I found this section helpful. Looking forward to more chapters ^^
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I'll try to play again ^^

follow-up comment. I'm sorry if this is not part of this chapter ~_~
Any tips on how you can practice playing with both hands? Like is there a specific song? I'm right-handed, so maybe that explains why I'm more comfortable for me to play with my right hand. But there's not much fun in playing with just one hand. My left hand always fails me. T_T

hmm..tips on playing both hands?

Well..you have to familiarize yourself with the left-hand notes first. And since you're more comfortable in the right-hand, which will then, you will automatically practice that hand first; why not switch to the left-hand and practice THAT first instead? It's really about self-discipline.

Try not to see yourself as your hand fails you, but rather, the hand is just as stubborn as the owner coz they just don't wanna do it? XD XD

Look. Practicing the left-hand isn't a bad idea. Sing the melody out while practicing your left-hand. That way, you would feel 'empty' and feel like you're going nowhere. It will be difficult at first, but once you get the hang of it, it'll be easy. Also, don't practice the whole song. maybe just one verse per week? 2 bars per-day? (assuming that you're self-taught).

Good luck, and let me know how it goes! ^_____^

I will definitely try your suggestion. I'd practice the left hand first. And you're probably right about the hand being as stubborn as the owner. *lol* I don't often use my left hand, so I guess that's also a challenge.

Mastering anything involves self-discipline. I'll your suggestion for a week and let you know how that goes ^^ Thanks a lot!

it takes a while to co-ordinate both hands together. That's why practicing seperate hands first is always a good thing. Then, comes the co-ordination of hands and eyes when you read the notes on the page. And then the co-ordination of the hands, eyes and foot when you use the pedal. One step at a time...you'll get there with practice. ^_______^
