“There’s no way we’re going to get out of the Sontaran ship alive, is there, Jack?” Ianto asked.
“Well, there’s some chance,” said Jack, hating himself for lying.
Ianto was quiet long enough that Jack thought he might have turned and left. Then, he spoke with only the slightest tightness in his voice, “I see.”
“You know it has to been done!” said Jack, turning in his chair to face Ianto, “We’re the only ones who can do anything.”
“But we’re all going to die,” Ianto didn’t try to hide the bitterness, “And after that, there’ll be no one left.”
