Jack stepped out of the TARDIS and halted in shock. This was Cardiff, but it wasn't the Cardiff he'd left. Roald Dahl Plass was deserted, the water tower rusted and half-collapsed. The wind from the shipless ocean blew cold across the crumbled brick and stone.
Jack turned around. The Millennium Centre's steel-plate surface had caved in, and the gaps that had once spelled out messages in Welsh and English seemed to be weeping rust-red tears.
His feet took him to the base of the tower, where something tucked into its base caught his eye.
A dirty plastic envelope labelled 'Jack'.
