One interesting thing about this list is knowing how long you spent at each place, and comparing that to the length of the list. Like how long were you in Rota? And compared to how long you were on Guam.. and yet the lists are mostly the same length. Says a lot about the wildlife there.

Yeah, exactly. There are a lot more birds on Rota than Guam! XD

tl;dr - also, tl; didn't want to get all sad because I'm now a sad librarian, living in a desert, 3 hrs from the nearest podunk airport!

BUT....

New Mexico... there's a Rufous-necked Wood-Rail... and I went to see it. And I saw it. And now I will go back and read your list and live vicariously through you!

I looked up a pic of that bird and OMG what a beauty rail! I'm glad you got to see it! :D

The thing about birds is there are SO many kinds that any two birders may have vastly different lists depending on where they've lived and traveled - we can all get jealous and/or live vicariously through each other's sightings! ^_^

Pretty sure someone living in a box is seeing more birds than I am these days, but you do make a compelling point!
