Curacao was our next port of call. Nice place there, and they had some good excursions lined up. And lots of shopping, of course.
Our plan was to go on Tuesday night to sign up for a cool excursion on the island, where you can scuba around 10 feet down through a tunnel with sharks around it. It was going to be probably the coolest excursion ever.
Until we found out that the place we went to sign up was closed on Tuesday night, and we'd have to go at like 7:30am on Wednesday to sign up for it, since the excursion was at 11:30am and it fills up fast. Needless to say, we all woke up around noon and missed it. Sorry Kristy, we know you really wanted to do it.
So we said screw it, we'll just go wander around town and shop since we didn't get to do that in Aruba. Everyone met up at the Jammer for food, and then we started to splinter. Someone had to go to the bathroom, someone wanted to change, I needed to get cash. Everyone went a different direction. I got my money and came back, to find Jesse, Jeremy and Jen there, everyone else split up. So the 4 of us went to town, because Mini Moosifer (MM) demanded it.
As we got to the gates, we had to swipe our cards to get off the ship. Jesse and I swiped ours, and just when MM was about to swipe, she realized she had Merri's card, and Merri couldn't get off the ship without it. So she turns and runs, and grabs Jeremy with her. Me and Jesse say screw it and leave. We wait for a few minutes on the island but no one comes, so we head for town. Supposedly it's a 15 minute walk, and a 5 minute cab ride. So we start walking.
We get to a little shopping area that's on the way to the main shopping area, and some guy is selling beers off a cart. Regional Light is the name, and they're 3 for $5. Not bad I guess, so we get some. Pretty decent beer. We see Christie and Danielle sitting around, so we stop to talk to them for a minute, and tell them to wait for us to come back. We then promptly forget about them. Heh.
Check out some more cheesy booth stores, nothing too great. Then we see a big bridge leading over to a whole big shopping area, and we realize we made it to the big shopping area. We start to cross the bridge, and realize we both have bad vertigo. Turns out it's a floating bridge, you can see the pontoons underneath. Kinda cool. They actually move the bridge out of the way so boats can pass. Turns out Christie and Danielle tried to follow us after a little while and got stuck on the bridge for 15 minutes while it moved out of the way. Suckers.
We hit a few stores, don't really see anything we want. Jesse gets some rolling papers at one store, and after about 4 or 5 stores, I finally find a pair of sunglasses I like. $15, but I told the guy I'd give him ten and he jumped on it. They love American money there. Some lady actually tried to sell Jesse a steel "Rolex" (I'm sure) watch, for $99. Then she told him a special price for him, $89. Buy two, $79 each. We said no, we don't want watches. Started to walk out and the guy lowered again to $59, then to $40 even. Big markup, huh?
At least I'm happy, I have my new sunglasses. They rock. I got my last pair in WI, so I knew I wasn't gonna get another pair anytime soon. Now I get this pair in Curacao. I told Jesse that I always find sunglasses in the most remote places, so I can never get another pair. I'm an idiot like that.
We walk passed this one rasta bar, and stop to get some more beers. They have Amstel Bright down there, it's kinda like a Corona, but 10oz. Pretty good with lime. We get a couple of those, and as we're leaving some dirty rasta tries to sell Jesse a little nothing of weed for like $30. Jesse says he'll give him $5, cuz that's all it's worth. The guy calls over his friend, "The Rasta", and Jesse buys a bunch. He's happy cuz he jewed down the price plenty. Way to go.
We're sweaty as hell by this point since it's probably 92 out, so we decide to head back to the ship. Grab a few more Amstels and hoof it back, get back around 3pm or so. Boat leaves at 4:30pm, so we hit the hottubs and pools upstairs again, since they're mostly empty and we just want to drink and relax for a bit.
After half an hour or so up there, everyone else shows up. They had an eventful day of everyone arguing which store they wanted to go into and for how long. And all I did was walk around and drink.
Little while later, we head back to the rooms. We change, shower and stuff, and head out to the balcony for a bit. The girls wanted to smoke, and a few of us wanted to see the ship pull out. So we're on the balcony, relaxing, taking pictures (which I'll link later), and we see this lady in hot pink pants running from the moving bridge towards teh ship. It's 4:25pm, the ship closes doors at 4:30pm, pulls out at 5:00pm. There's the lady, and another one next to her, hauling ass to get back to the ship. One of the girls sees them and starts yelling, telling everyone onboard to look at the people who are late. Lots of people out on the balconies, so they start cheering them on, come on, you can make it, etc.
Not us. We start heckling. "Get a watch you deadbeats or we'll leave you behind!" "Move it tubby or we're leaving without you!" Of course everyone else on the ship is a mix of laughter and hatred towards us. It's great. Then we hear "Hey, you guys are rough." come from above us. We look up and one room to our right is Heather and Jamie, sitting on the deck, drinking wine. Figures, they live above us too. We BS with them for a few, boring stuff. The hot pink pants makes it onto the ship after cutting corners, almost jumping in the ocean and being generally reckless. Way to run pinky.
Relaxed a little after that, ordered some room service for a bit. They either hated or loved us, since we put in orders for like 10-15 people at a time, but gave them big tips. Either way, we had a good time with it. Plenty of mini pizzas and chicken fingers at the press of a button.
Dinner time rolls around, and to be honest, I have no recollection of it. It was probably pretty uneventful. Oh, except Tom and Kristy finally got to sit at the regular table instead of the retard table. So he enjoyed a quick, comfortable dinner that night. Way to go buddy.
Another night at the Jester, more beers in buckets and more dancing. We're crazy like that. It was kind of a low key night. Heather and Jamie came and sat around with our group. Heather sat next to me, between me and some guy from a different group. For 20 minutes, all I heard about was how bad he stunk. And she was right, the guy smelled awful. After a few minutes of it, we switched, then moved to a different area, and I think the guy got the hint, since he put on his jacket, and eventually left.
Heather kept like scratching my back, trying to hold my hand, and rubbing my shoulders all night. It got kind of annoying. Eventually Jamie came over and sat on my leg for a minute, and then she started getting really friendly too. Either word spreads fast between girls, or they're just very, very catty and competitive. Either way works for me.
Alas, in my chase of eternal cruise drunkenness, I didn't take anyone home. Shame on me, because it was right there. Ah well. I did get rip roaring drunk and pass out by about 4am though, after another hour or so in the hottub with everyone.
Overall, funny day, a bit tamer than the other days. We rocked, just not as hardcore as usual. Maybe we just needed our second wind, which we definately got on Thursday. Get ready for a good day.
