im lazy to contact you anywhere else but there was the raffles jazz workshop today and i can't really improvise lol and your brother needs help with the rhythm i think.

auditions are next thursday; any tips?

same thing i told him

practise your C minor blues scale, did they tell you about it? it will serve you in good stead; the scales are to help your fingers get used to playing certain notes (classical music uses somewhat different scales).

and then listen to stuff, say youtube, or whatever you have on your computer. ella fitzgerald, charlie parker, miles davis, louis armstrong.

think of improvisation (for now) as responding to the tune: the song has a melody and chords, and if you remove the melody and replace it with your own...what happens?
