I agree that deleting one's LiveJournal seems like a silly step. But then I'm not particularly ashamed of my past selves.

Huh. I'd never really thought of the Google Calendar that way, but it is accurate. I've basically used it that way before ("Wait, when did I go to Place X? Right, I can look it up on my calendar . . ."), but haven't thought of the distant future implications. Neato!

It's neat how articulating things in writing brings additional clarity. Shortly after writing this entry, I went to my GCal and created a new calendar called "Journal". The idea being that just as people are more likely to post facebook/chat status updates or tweets than full-fledged blog entries, so too might I be more inclined to write a "journal" when the entries are only intended to be a sentence or two long (and written in a browser tab that I always keep open anyway). Since I was already finding GCal useful as a journal without even intending it to be so, I'm hoping this will make it more useful still. Plus, now reading back I'll have all that helpful calendar context. We'll see how it goes. Of course, part of me hopes this doesn't catch on since it means people will write in their real, public journals that much less.
