The Hunger Games

Oh my gosh. I almost don't even know what to say.

First, I guess. PEETA! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Second. Oh Katniss. You poor thing. I understand and am somewhat in agreement with you being left in the dark about the plan. Though I do think you could have handled it. You have been really good about doing the right thing for the cameras. Less good about realizing that there are cameras everywhere. But I think you could have held your end with that particular plot. And Peeta has also proven many times that he can play to the cameras too. Even better sometimes. So, I think they both could have been told about the plan. Or at least that there was something in the works. Maybe not during the Games, but earlier, when you said you wanted to incite a rebellion.
But I also understand why you are so angry with everyone. You just wanted to not be a piece to be manipulated ,and that's exactly what happened. Just by the other side. (Though I do think it should have been more obvious to you that you and hte mockingjay were the figureheads of the rebellion.

Third. Well done everyone with blowing up the arena and working together but not being super obvious about it. And for all of the victors' interviews. Genius. Brilliant.

Fourth. Oh my gosh, Peeta, you are wonderful My favorite line in the book was when Haymitch tells Katniss that she will never be good enough for Peeta, and how she agrees. Strangely though, as much as I love everything about you, I am not sure that I am in love with you myself. And I am still not entirely sure that I ship you with Katniss. You are definitey soulmales, but I am not sure if I see it as romantic soulmates or just platonic ones. I think for me, they are comrades in arms first and foremenost, and I do not always ship comrades. Before anyone jumps all over me though, I don't think I ship Katniss and Gale either. Though I think even Katie will have to admit that he does have a deep bond with Katniss and does not deserve to be thrown off a cliff.

Last. Suzanne Collins. You are brilliant. And I love that your books are not all about the romance and are still so amazing and popular that they were featured in Time Magazine. So much of YA is about the romance first and the adventure second, and these books are not like that at all.
