Character: Minato Arisato
Series/Fandom: Persona 3
Deviance: 1
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Canon Used: Video Game and the official manga.
Appearance:
In his school uniform. Minato doesn't care too much about his appearance. If he's clean and his clothes are free of gaping holes, that's good enough. He also has little fashion sense to speak of. That's not to say it's bad, but few would call it good. His hair generally covers one eye and makes him look like an angst ridden teenager, but that's less making a statement and more him being too lazy to get it cut and styled. He's rarely seen without his MP3 player and headphones, and when he's not listening to music they hang around his neck.
Psychology: Minato grew quiet after his parents died in an accident when he was seven, when everyone around him attributed what he witnessed to trauma and paid him little attention. People he never really knew have made all the decisions for him since that day, with little or no input from him. As such, he has gotten lazy and will almost always choose the route that takes the least effort. He rarely picks sides in an argument, mostly because he's learned not to have much of an opinion to begin with. He's used to others picking his opinion for him and often relies on it to get through a conversation. Despite what this may imply, he doesn't mind talking to people and even enjoys their company.
Minato isn't used to expressing his emotions and would rather not burden others with his problems. As such, he tends to grow quieter when he's under stress and never seems terribly disturbed by anything. He's also very open and accepting of new ideas, even if they're not something he cares for. This combination of being hard to disturb and not showing his emotions leaves the impression that he's unfazed by the happenings around him, and some would just call him emotionless.
Skills/Abilities: He can fight with just about any hand held weapon: One handed sword, two handed sword, bow and arrow, signpost - You name it. He can summon a Persona by shooting himself in the head with a special gun shaped device, called an evoker. A Persona is a pokemon that one keeps in their head. They have special moves and generally represent the psyche of the user, the mask that they show to others. Minato's a special snowflake in that he's the only one in-game that is not limited to only one Persona.
Weaknesses: He's mediocre with hand held weapons. While he has experience with just about everything, he never stuck with one long enough to master it. He also doesn't have much in the muscle department to back them up with. Pretty much all of his fighting power comes from his Personae. Their strengths are his strengths; their weaknesses are his weaknesses.
History:
Ten years ago, a little boy crawled out of the wreck of a car accident that had moments ago killed his parents. Upon removing himself from the vehicle, a robot shoved the personification of Death inside his tiny little mind. It's not every day a child loses his parents only to have the thing that arguably killed them invade his brain seconds later, and one of the normal reactions the human psyche has to something so horrific is to forget about those pesky major details.
April 7th, 2009. It's been ten years since that little boy set foot in Iwatodai, Japan, and he's moved and transferred so many times he can't even name everywhere that he's lived. Today he's transferring from Wherever He Was to Gekkoukan High, a private high school owned by the Kirijo family. As he doesn't live in the area, or have any spare change, or, for that matter, any caretakers, he moves into one of the dorms which is looked over by the Chairman of the school and just happens to be reserved for members of S.E.E.S
Upon arriving at the dorm a creepy little boy tells him to sign a contract, which he does without question because you can't play the game until you give the main character a name. Turns out none of the other students in the dorm (all three of them) know of or have even seen the kid before. Weird.
About two days later during the Dark Hour, a giant 874765-armed monster with a mask comes by and tries to kill the dorm residents. Fun! So Minato takes a special S.E.E.S. gun that's lying around and shoots himself in the head. Out comes his Persona, which immediately gets its own head ripped open as some other giant Persona with coffin bling comes out and kills the monster with 874765 arms dead. Then Minato falls into a coma.
He awakens a week later and is asked to join S.E.E.S. now that they're sure he has a head monster. The Dark Hour is explained to him and, having nothing better to do during his time here anyway, he agrees to join their forces.
He'll be taken from after May's full moon event. Which is him and S.E.E.S. beating up a shadow in a train.
Reality Description:
By day, it's a normal city in a normal Japan in a normal world. Minato goes to Gekkoukan High, a private school built on Port Island about a mile from the mainland. The station by the school has a movie theater, flower shop, and designated thug area. On an equally small island adjacent to the school is a popular mall, where you can play videogames, sing kareoke, stock up on healing items, and other fun mall time activities. On the mainland is Iwatodai, where his dorm is located. Both males and females are allowed to live there, unlike every other dorm, as it is the main operation center for S.E.E.S. (Special Extracurricular Execution Squad), something akin to an anti-terrorist group run by high school students. There are tons of food shops at the Iwatodai station, where the kids board a train to school. Then there's Naganaki Shrine, where high school students go to bribe the gods into letting them pass exams next week.
By night, it's exactly the same until midnight. Midnight calls forth the Dark Hour, where Gekkoukan High School turns into a 250+ story tower called Tartarus that bathes everything in an eerie green glow. During this time, no electricity is available and only specially crafted technology works. Normal people are "transmogrified" into coffins and can't be hurt (directly, anyway). People with the "potential" are able to see everything during the Dark Hour, and are free to walk around and do whatever they want once they're done freaking the hell out. "Shadows" may pop out and devour those unprepared for the Dark Hour, but usually they're good and stay inside of Tartarus where they belong.
