I saw them first in Houston. In 1988 before they were popular. It was at Numbers and a small crowd. Only about a hundred or so. It was just the two of them with Andy Bell prancing about in a tutu and Vince Clark at his keyboard. It was most fabulous.
Saw them again when they were in DC. That was in the early 1990's. That production was a bit overdone. Too many special effects. Phallic plants that spewed out smoke and all that jazz.
Haven't seen them lately. Wonder if they are coming down to Texas.
I seem to recall writing shitty papers being easier with a slight buzz
Absolutely. My best work came when I had that "still drunk" hungover feeling. Fun times. I doubt I would be as successful teaching. It would in fact be the most painful day of my life.
We went to an L-word season 2 premiere at Legends last night--very interesting. Not sure how I feel about a lot of the changes (intro, song, new haircuts, new wardrobes, pregnant Tina that makes no sense), but I'll get used to them.
Seriously, though, about Tina--remember the shower scene in the last or next-to-last episode of season one where Bette said she wanted to try again to get pregnant and Tina said she needed a few more months? And then Tina immediately found out Bette was having an affair and moved in with Alice? And now, short time later, she looks 8 months pregnant? How did that happen?
I know Laurel Holloman had a baby, but that's no excuse for sloppy story-lining! Although their explanation of Marina's absence was pretty gutsy--I figured it would be more along the lines of "Oh she's on location with whats-her-name doing a film in Spain" or something.
I had mixed feelings about the first song. It's beautiful and sexy, but it uses the masculine pronoun--kind of an odd choice for a show about a bunch of women. ("Lately I been feelin' low/And I been feelin' down/Lately my baby come and go/And he never around") The new one seems more like a first season mistake--it tries too hard to tell the story of the show--it's like the friggin' Brady Bunch.
Ha ha yeah, I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right, it seems too introductory.
We also decided that the various rumors regarding Marina's attempted suicide were an inside joke between the cast and writers. It's unclear why the actress didn't to continue, so everyone came up with various crap.
