Background

... To be written later. :P

Point in time

Hinata at CFUD is taken from a few months into the timeskip of the Naruto manga (so no Sailor Hinata |D), possibly now making her the youngest of the characters from that series at camp, and the one who has developed the least. Since she has yet to appear post-time jump, I'm going on some assumptions from here.

In regards to her family, I'm under the assumption that relationships really have improved, considering Neji actually smiled sincerely or in subtle amusement, rather at Hinata in the last chapter of Part I. Things are still a little dodgy at times, such as when Hinata fails to perform to expections, but efforts are made to encourage her rather than to put her down like before. Thus, as she is working on improving, it is now with not only help and support from her team and teacher, but also from her father and Neji. I imagine this would help marvellously with her confidence and development.

However, there are still moments when she still has her insecurities, since, after years of being told she's weak and will always be, I doubt they would disappear overnight. During these moments, Hinata has to consciously remind herself that, no, she's not weak, and even if she is, she'll get stronger. It's taking less effort to do this now, though.

At camp

Background and stuff aside, Hinata is one shy, kind and gentle soul: the type of person who is unwilling to purposely hurt others, and who wishes to avoid conflict when possible. She worries a lot, and is reluctant to approach others about her problems, afraid to incovenience them. Finding herself in a strange place due to a jutsu she performed, her first thoughts were "Did I fail again? Did all that training everyone helped me with go to waste? Did their efforts go to waste?" In short, her insencurities hit a little harder than they had in a while. Without her usual confidants of Kurenai and the rest of Team 8, all the faces she knew being decidedly older than she knew them, and everyone else being strangers, Hinata felt a little ... alone.

However, this is a Hinata who stands, even if only a little bit, straighter and taller than she did before, and she has proven herself to be rather stubborn. She got over the loneliness fairly quickly after seeing that everyone was more or less the same as she knew them, even if she does miss her team and the people from her point in time. The introduction of Maromi, or "Zenzai-chan", hindered her for a while, especially when Maromi disappeared and the panic set in. Once she recovered, she remembered how others had tried to help her at a time when there was already enough worry. Not wanting something like that to happen ever again, and coupled with her meeting Naruto again, Hinata came away from the incident with yet a little more determination, picked up from where she left off before camp, and has stuck with it ever since.

For the record, she does want to go home, and she feels guilty for it. Why? Well, the eyes of Hyuugas can see many things, but I like to believe that Hinata sees more. She can see that, even if they don't see so themselves, everyone else is forming strong ties with people whom they may never have even considered doing so with before and pretty much settling down. She can see that, in many cases, they are happy; she's happy for them, and doesn't want to ruin it.

This is especially true for Neji. After years of anger and bitterness, Hinata is somewhat relieved to know that he can love, and feels that he deserves it and the happiness that seems to have come with it. She was crushed when he mentally regressed, knowing that the anger and bitterness were back. Later, seeing him obviously miserable, but oddly compliant to Tsunade's order to end his relationship with Itachi, Hinata found herself torn, but could only bring herself to make a very nervous appeal to Tsunade. She went away and did some thinking, going through the pros and cons about it all, but what always came out on top was that Neji was sad. Cue some whispers of wishful thinking, but it hit her fairly quickly that if she wanted something done, she was going to have to take heart and take action. She knows that it would be impractical and dangerous to let such a thing to continue, but the happiness of those close to her is very important, and she realised then that she would willingly fight to keep that happiness - even face the Hokage. Thus, yet another reason to become stronger.

Things she'll never say

As already mentioned, Hinata is quite a worrier, but at the same time, fears inconveniencing people and causing others worry. She's a little more vocal now, but there are still a lot of things that she keeps to herself. (However, as it stands, I can't remember much of her opinions, so more will be added later.)

One of these is that, due to the difference in timelines, Hinata has found herself feeling very far behind from everyone else. A teeny tiny feeling that whispers about her never being able to reach that level. However, after going all Hyuuga heiress on Neji once, Hinata's taken to mentally kicking this feeling in the backside whenever it appears.

Behind the scenes

Unless stated otherwise, whenever she's not around, it's because Hinata has taken to training on her own in some area she found in the woods near camp. Once in a while, she'll go net-surfing to try and learn things, mostly out of curiosity's sake.
