Zombieland!

A few thoughts on Zombieland -- I'll try to keep the spoilers as benign as possible.

The visuals are smack-you-in-the-face sharp. The opening credits are a series of slow motion snapshot scenes of life in post-zombie America. Zombies and their victims smash through the credits hanging in midair. It's similar to the Watchmen opening credits, with less "march through history" and more "run for your lives." Additionally, the main character has a series of rules for surviving Zombieland. Whenever one comes up or is demonstrated the rule pops-up Fringe-like in the background.

The main character, Columbus (everyone takes the name of a city they're from or going to, knowing someone's real name just means you'll get attached and then be sad when they're eaten), is played by Michael Cera who is played by Jesse Eisenberg.

Woody Harrelson's character, Tallahassee, has an uncanny resemblance to Mr. Truck Driver in appearance and mannerisms. This makes me happy and disturbed.

There is a very odd, beautiful extended cameo halfway through the movie. It is hilarious in a "I can't believe this is happening, give me more" way. It ends the only way it could.

It's the American cousin and spiritual sequel to Shaun of the Dead.

Fun Fact: my spellcheck's suggestions for replacing Zombieland include: Timberland, Cumberland, Sibilant, Ambulant, Somnolent, Semblance, Symbiont.
