So in about 6 minutes, Tookie Williams will be executed by the state of California. Arnold Schwarzenegger literally could have saved a human being's life with just a signature, but clemency was refused. It is incredibly unfortunate, and "Tookie" Williams case is a perfect reason why capitol punishment is cruel and unnecessary. America continues ( Read more... )

South Africa got rid of it ages and ages ago, or well, we havent executed anyone for a long time if I can remember correctly. Maybe it was because it's expensive and there never really was a need for it. We have over-populated jails though. And some criminals have been set free to make room, haha. It's true though.

As for this Tookie person, I havent really heard much about it... or know who it actually is. I think countries are sheltered like that. But there was a recent hanging of a Van Nyuen [sp?] for drug trafficing, it was a whole complicated story.

Im not sure of the stance I have, but I dont like death. Any form of it.

I agree. I abhor capital punishment. Murder is murder, whether it is sanctified by the law or not.
