Thank you for the directions you left in my LJ, I honestly don't know how I missed the original letter. But I got your note about it with the tracking number, looked it up and thought, 'oh, I guess it will be here in a few days! Great!' - and then it came the very next day. I just used a dremel to make sure the stringing channels were clear and then strung it up, I will go back later and sand, add kips and everything. It's a really beautiful body; I look forward to seeing the modified one but I feel really lucky to have the very first version. It was definitely worth the wait.
You know how it is with email, sometimes they just vanish... I'm so glad you like it ~ do enjoy!! I've just sanded one for myself today... sanded roughly anyway, need to go back and clean up, but I just wanted to string it. Will suede it later as well, and maybe work with the elastic a bit, it is quite tight. One thing for the next version will have to be wider stringing channels in the arms!! Also thinking about doing away with the separate hip joint?
Well that's a milestone . . . CONGRATULATIONS on getting your dolls casted and shipped out. Kits sound cool!! I hope you have a wonderful vacation . . . kick back and enjoy!! XD
Thank you!!! I feel so relieved and at the same time I have a bit of renewed energy and I kinda want to start right away with making mods for the new version. I think kits are the most cost effective and least time consuming way to go, plus it goes back to the DIY roots and means that buyers need to get their hands dirty (or dusty or even bloody) to achieve the finished doll. Personally I think it enhances the feelings for the doll in terms of bonding if one has done a lot of work on it oneself.
Enjoy the break, you earned it and then some! I'm sad I didn't find out about the kits until it was too late, and hope someday to get one, but I hope you enjoy the peace and quiet and the reclaiming of your free time! :)
Aww, I really wish I could right now, but I just put Mir on layaway and have restricted my doll buying to -zilch- until he's paid off. Thank you so much for the tip-off, though!
It's good to be lazy, but I just love kits.. there aren't enough kits. I wish more dolls were available as a kit, actually. Besides saving me a bunch of time it also means that people who are too squeamish for kits will not bother unless they can hire someone to put them together.
What hole did you have to redrill?? Anyway I'm glad you've finally had time to start playing with yours so you can put it together!! Hope you are happy with the result:D
I think it was the left thigh. I drilled it through then there was some weird purple blue rubbery stuff blocking the inside- kind of like rubber?
But I got it and she's all put together, but I think I strung her retarded because she's like, loose. I'm just going to tighten the strings a bit. It was different than your model because I have a luts easy release neckpeice I used so I could take my dolls head on and off easily. But the dress I got for her fits! (except for one snap, but it's covered by her hair).
Weird purply stuff, that would have been silicone. Glad you were able to get it out though.. can't believe I missed it!!
And yes I am pretty sure the Luts neck piece makes the elastic looser since it makes the knot sit in the neck instead of inside the head. Pictures soon then?

Lesigh. Oh the day of kits is almost gone. I miss the sweat and work of sanding your own doll.
And then sometimes I'm just lazy.
Glad you made it though, you totally deserve a break! :D
