And the only part about all this "pain is the sign" stuff is for me. :( I have a form of IBS and it hurts ALL the time, so I might have stones and won't know until/unless I pass them. Utter fail.
Thanks! Yep i was diagnosed with IBS-C after they took organs out and did all kinds of tests and things. The pain has been happening sometimes on a completely empty stomach and without eating any of my trigger foods. and it's weird because my lower right back hurts now too and the pain comes in weird waves unlike the steady constant pain with IBS. it's just sooooo strange.
It started subtly -- she didn't poo for a long time and then she started having to pee a lot uncontrollably. She's a trooper and doesn't show pain, so it (sadly) took me a long time to realize that she was in pain pretty much all the time. I had an appointment with the vet the next week for her frequent urine issue as it was, but one day all she could do was squat and groan with nothing but trickles coming out (and she pretty much squatted as she walked around the house, it was bad). I freaked out, took her to the vet, and he did all sorts of physical stuff first to get her to empty her bowels (or as much as she could) before taking the x-rays. She had two stones, passed one later that night, and had the other dissolved with special food.
My mom also had a stone and it was sudden for her, too. She said it felt like she was giving birth, but there was no kid and it was much worse.

Other wise, yes, the pain is a good indicator.
