Man that really sucks to have health issues when you're abroad, of all times. I hope that gets sorted out.
And it sucks that you're having trouble with your host family too. I'm surprised that host families in Japan seem to expect a great deal from foreign exchange students. If I was hosting someone from another culture I would try to inhibit anything they do as little as possible so that they don't feel uncomfortable, but I guess maybe that's the American way? I'm glad it looks like everything will work out.
I WANT OMIYAGE FROM JAPAN. I don't know if you can find those lightsaber chopsticks anywhere, but those were the coolest...
Yeah, I think my host mother is trying to turn me into a Japanese person, and uh...nope, not possible. Even if I submit to all the strange table manners and unofficial dress codes, I'll never fit in anyway, because I look like a foreigner. People are going to stare at me anyway, why try to fit in?
I'll see what I can do, though I doubt I can find those. xD;; Any requests? Cute, cool, wacky, Engrish, otherwise? *takes notes* Dunno when I can get it to you, though...perhaps I'll send it in the mail over Christmas break?
Well I hope the dorms work out better for you. Do you know if you'll get a Japanese roommate? They'll probably be a little more flexible than a host-okaasan.
I don't really have any other requests...anything cute or funny or Engrish or awesome, I dunno! And if mailing it doesn't work, hopefully we can do it when you see me in Japan :D I hear back like this week, I hope....
It makes me sad that you're having hospital stuff AND mean-host-family stuff going on at the same time. When my cousin went to Spain, all she could talk about was how nice the host family was. Also long sleeves in 70 degree weather is just ridiculous. STICK TO YOUR GUNS. (You got a license for those?) ;D
