It could just be his imagination, but the air feels less abrasive against the exposed skin of Kuja's cheeks. Either this strange world is beginning to thaw, or he has become accustomed to it - neither possibility would surprise him. He has been spending quite a bit of time lurking on the rooftops of the community housing buildings. He stands at the ( Read more... )

Caesar had been surprised to see someone else out at this late hour. Twenty minutes earlier, he had been in his room when he was suddenly struck with the urge to wander, despite the fact that it was late, and also a ridiculous idea. Luceti was a dangerous place in the daylight; night was far worse. Still, he'd set down the pen, massaged some feeling back into his stiff writing hand, and decided that a few minutes out in the fresh air couldn't hurt, as long as he didn't go too far.

But then he'd seen Kuja moving out towards the edge of the village, and his curiosity had taken over. He followed him casually, not bothering with any sort of stealth.

If anything, Caesar could always say that he simply wanted to thank Kuja personally for volunteering.

Kuja was not surprised by how weakened his spells were, but it would be an understatement to say that he was a little annoyed by it. To practice his healing magic he had to search until he found a small rodent in a rotting portion of tree. He held it loosely in his fist, ready to break its legs - many of the victims of the Malnosso seemed to return with broken bones - when he became aware of footsteps in the snow behind him. His tail twitched beneath his coat, and he turned, conflicted. He hadn't wanted company. He hadn't. But since it had presented itself... he recognized Caesar from both his studies, and from glimpsing the other man moving through the halls. He still held the young rabbit in his hand.

"Ah, hello, neighbor," Kuja said with a smile, "What drags you into this cold at such a late hour...?"

"I needed to get out for a bit," Caesar replied truthfully. "It's warm in there, but a little -- I don't know, stifling -- being locked up all the time."

He tipped his head and jammed his hands in his pockets, staring at the rabbit in Kuja's hand. "I could ask the same of you. A little late in the evening for hunting, isn't it?"

((What happens to logs still in progress when an event happens? @_@; Should I continue this, or what...? I'm so confused.))
