Oh, you must tell me how you liked The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest once you've finished it. I don't care for the series at all (though to be fair I've only skimmed the books and been dragged to the films by my mum as some sort of bonding ritual - didn't work - and thrillers aren't my thing anyway), but I know loads of people who really like the translations, so.
Well, the first book was pretty meh and I kinda slogged through it but I blew through the second and it pretty much kicked my butt.
The translation is really, really craptastic, but I can't imagine the original style is much better; the plot however is pretty cool and keeps getting cooler. I gotta admit I am not a fan of thrillers either (I love me some cosy mysteries) but I am liking the series very much and as soon as I'm done with Gaiman, I'll start Hornet.
(Long answer is longer still)
Also, I gotta thank you for the card, it was absolutely lovely. Cheers. :D
The plot is interesting and I really liked Stieg Larsson and used to read the magazine he edited, though the moral of the story didn't really surprise me at the end because it ties in with Larsson's opinions and ideas in real life, generally.
Also, Lisbeth Salander can be the heroine of every story in the world as far as I'm concerned. I loved her. This may or may not have something to do with me thinking that Noomi Rapace is the prettiest thing Sweden has ever produced, though.
No one reads thrillers for the language anyway, do they? ;)
(I'm glad the card got there! I was afraid it might get lost in the post.)
