today they were offering free capoiera lessons at the study where my brother learns.  so mika and i went.  and man! my shoulders kill!  too bad i don't have a mana to give me a massage... (too bad only tamara will get that reference. hehehe) we had to do many cartwheels.  and i played and it was so fun!  i wanna learn more!!

The only thing is you'd have to keep your name in katakana, and Karasu isn't a very common name. But I still think it's a good idea, and at least you have a direction. I'm not sure I would want to live in Japan long-term (pretty sure I don't, although I have to go back SOMEtime to get fluent), but I'd love if you got super-famous so I could come visit you in your fabulous pad. :)

heh. and fabulous it would be. why do i have to write it in katakana? my first name has a kanji...

You have to go down to a city hall and register your name as kanji with the Japanese government before you can use it. http://www.debito.org/whattodoif.html

The only advice I have about working in Japan is not to jump into it too quickly. Especially since hiring starts in March and stuff. Take that as a cue to say "Okay, I can't start just yet, but this gives me time to take care of other things."
