On Friday, April 27, my buddy
ebonykain drove up from CT to visit for ToraCon, held at RIT. Once she finally got here, we raced to finish making her outfit, since she needed my mum's help sewing the skirt together. We totally used the glue gun to make her tie--glue gun ftw! That evening, we drove up to RIT to hang out with some of the gang, never did make it to the actual Fireside Friday thing, since we got sidetracked by my usual gang in the Gracie's Lounge, but it was all good, they were the guys I wanted her to meet anyroad!
Got home late-ish that night and after amusing ourselves for a bit, finally went to bed. Afterall, we had to be up early for the con!
Saturday morning dawned far too early, as usual. Unfortunately, it was not bright; it was a rather grey and dreary looking day. In any case,
ebonykain cosplayed Schoolgirl!Kairi from Kingdom Hearts 2. Sadly, her hair dye didn't work so well, so her hair didn't look very red, and the misty rain all day kinda killed her attempt to straighten it. Ah well, she still looked super cute!! There were about three other Eds at the con, and one Movie!Alphonse; I'm of the opinion that my outfit was the best looking! Plus, I used my own hair, not a wig, like at least one that I saw. Sadly, I was too much of a chicken-shit to enter the Cosplay Contest, which I now regret not doing. Ah well, there's always other cons!
I did, however, manage to catch the attention of a number of people who asked me for my photo. It was super-weird, but a great ego boost! I also got a discount from one of the artists in Artist Alley for acting in character! Woot for being able to channel my inner Edo! That, and the fact that at age 15-16, I acted a helluva lot like Ed, right down to being super sensitive about my height. I still am, but I'm not as much of a spaz about it most of the time.
Now for pictures! What everyone was waiting for!
A super hot Luxord, she graciously posed for us and gave
ebonykain a hug! She's also a wicked good
artist! (Yes, I am totally pimping her gallery)
A spot-on Rikku from Final Fantasy X2
Sonny FREAKING Strait! Omg, he was soo bloody awesome, I can't put it into words! He has a new manga coming out in September, that I'm planning on checking out. Title is We Shadows, if I'm remembering correctly. He was super funny, and also MC'd the Cosplay Contest.
Apparantly Zexion is quite the pianist, and enjoys playing funeral marches. *snerk*
Wonder Chef! His costume is made almost entirely out of duct tape! Now that, my friends, is talent! He also does commissions! *ponders getting a keyblade made*
Lord Sesshomaru (InuYasha) and a Persocom (Chobits)...an interesting combo!
Kakashi (Naruto) stole Wonder Chef's fork...wtf
Random troll dude--he told us he had to super-glue his tusks on!
Girl!Lee Vs Gaara (Naruto)
Time-Skip Sakura (Naruto) she was super cute
Edward Elric (your's truly) transmuting the Sentinel (this giant THING on RIT campus)
Another shot of the transmutation. Eventually, I wanna play with one of these in PS:CS2 and add some alchemical light flares.
Marluxia and Demyx from KH2--this Demyx amused me greatly with his water bottle!
An absolutely amazing Trinity Blood cosplay--she said that she's been working on it for about a year and a half, and still isn't completely finished with it! She was a member of the Cosplay Crack Crew.
Organization 13 skit from the Cosplay Contest, they were freakin' hilarious!
Zexion and Lexaeus from KH2
Sneaky shot that
ebonykain snagged of Wonder Chef and myself just chilling out--we were both frying, since it was quite warm inside.
One of the most random photos ever! Myself as Ed,
ebonykain as Kairi and a random Jiraiya (Naruto) spying on us as I protected Kairi from the rain (she was freezing most of the day). Damn pervy Sage!
Another shot, and this time Ed is stealing a kiss!!
We had a ton of fun, and I'm wicked glad that we were able to go! The next day dawned bright, sunny and beautiful. So of course, being the crazy fangirls that we are,
ebonykain and I decided to go outside and do an impromtu photoshoot. Which led to a KH/FMA crossover, and plots to write this massive epic fanfic about said crossover. The following pictures are from said photoshoot, which were taken around my house, and in the nearby town where there is a convenient railroad that doesn't get a ton of use.
Emo!Ed sitting by the road. Being Emo.
Another Emo!Ed. I like being Emo!Ed. *snerk*
Kairi waiting, most likely for Sora and Riku.
Kairi seems to always being playing with/fixing her hair in the games. Thus, this shot.
ebonykain bought this awesome Sora cellphone charm, which we're convinced Kairi would totally put on her own phone.
Phone call!! I bet it's Sora or Selphie!
Swinging! Yay!
Ed reaching for a kitty; we all knew he's a softy at heart! Reach Ed!
Finally reaching the kitty. (Yes, I have a huge roofed sandbox. I helped build it too!)
Flowy coat walk!
Part two!
Last pic of the walk--these will eventually be assembled into an "animated" icon. Once I work up the ambition to fight with my computer.
Ed waiting for the train.
Still waiting.
Maybe he should have checked the schedule... Looks like Kairi is trying to figure out what he's waiting for.
Introductions; Ed meets Kairi.
Kairi suggests lunch after Ed's stomach introduces itself. She tells him the next train isn't for a few hours.
Chatting and Ed explaining where he's headed.
Yes, we realize we're completely nutters. We like being that way! Definitely got some weird looks from passersby as we were taking pictures, especially when we set the self-timers on our cameras, and then booked it to get into position! And yeah, were I live completely looks like Risenbool (or however you want to spell it! I think I've seen about a dozen spellings for it).
I need to redo the flamel on the back on my Edo coat, since the felt one I made for the Con came off by the end of the day from my bag strap rubbing against it. I think I'll just sew one on this time. I will most definitely be wearing this again at CTCon, and it will probably become one of my ever evolving outfits, much like my Death (Sandman) costume. Woot.
And now I'm tired. The end.
