Andy put in his two weeks' notice at work. Once that's up, he's being whisked off to San Francisco on someone else's dime for a game design gig with a start-up that may or may not pan out. It'll be 6 weeks before we know for sure, during which I'll be staying in Portland keeping our apartment just in case we end up having to pick up right where ( Read more... )

He's going to have to couch surf for a while, with small dogs tormenting him, which won't be ideal, and he's being very cautious about it, but we're also excited. I think this will be great for him. He was being wasted by The Shep.

That's exciting! I mean, even if things are still a bit unknown at this point. I really hope it works out for him :)

Is there a possibility of calling a cab? Or would that just cost way too much? I've never ridden in a cab...so I really have no idea about the cost of fare on a regular basis.

I'm actually not sure. It sounds costly, though! I probably couldn't get myself to actually do it.

Yeah, it does. I just thought that was a better idea than you walking in the frozen tundra in the middle of the night!

It's somewhere between 35 and 50 bucks. :( Good idea, though!

the bay area is pretty terrible as far as jobs goes, mostly because there are so many unemployed people here right now. but...as far as housing goes, there are a lot of rentals open (because people bought their house for 900K and then the market crashed and they got a new job somewhere else but refuse to sell their house for 400K so they rent them out until the market rebounds). anyway good luck to both of you!
