So, my friend John is a bit serious... so I played a little April Fools Day Joke on him...
He logged onto AIM around 10:30am this morning and started talking to me. Well... I acted like I was beating around the bush a little and then I burst out with "I have the most exciting news!" So he's like really? and I was like "YES! I'm going to Greece in a month! The American Embassy is taking me on as a intern. I'll be gone 6 months!"
And I proceeded to fabricate details, including the church that I was going to check out regularly and the residential type hotel I'd be put up in. After about an hour and a half of gushing about the trip, he went to lunch and signed off. So later on I texted him and told him my passport had been pushed through quickly and that the embassy had e-mailed me my itinerary. I was leaving in three weeks instead of a month. I get no response from him.
Even later, I met him at our church for evening services. I proceeded to have two imaginary phone conversations with my roommate and my mother (both which I'd used this prank earlier on) talking to them about things that I would need to do and get before the trip. I even began bubbling over and telling other people about the trip-- I had their cell phone numbers so I could text them later about the joke.
I was really enjoying it. Then at the pivotal moment, when John couldn't come chasing after me, I texted him, telling him that I'd just April Fooled him... it was hilarious. I enjoyed it very much.
Anyone have their own April Fools stories? I'd love to hear them.
