Day Change: Day 53.

At midnight, television screens all around Peaksville go on, and West is there holding a mask in front of his face. "I do so enjoy a good party, don't you? I do hope I'll see you there. Don't be worried, my little creations if things seem bleak early! It will all work out alright in the end!"

Sirius had drifted off during a double-feature of some old sci-fi movies about aliens or irradiated women or some such, using his best friend as a pillow.

When West appears on the screen in the cinema, Sirius jerks awake. He lifts his head off of James's shoulder and groggily wipes drool from the corner of his mouth.

As West speaks, he sits up in his chair, thinking he's dreaming.

"Oi!" he shouts angrily at the end of the speech. "You nutter, you sent us here without our wands. How come Snivellus has his, and not us? Parties, I ask you. We're -"

He then looks at James, worried that he might have woken his friend. It occurs to him that he's not dreaming, after all.

There was a feminine voice behind him, soft but professional sounding. "He has his because he made a deal. Are you interested in making a deal, Mr. Black?"

Startled by the voice, Sirius leaped out of his seat and spun around. He squinted at the woman in the near-darkness, looked back at the screen, looked at James, then back at her.

"Who are you?"

"I'm Miss Devlin. You might say I'm an agent.. of sorts." Miss Devlin rose from where she was perched on the back of a chair and had a rather polite smile. "I am the person in Peaksville who can offer you deals, Mr. Black." She leaned over and adjusted his collar. "I can give you nearly anything you desire."

James was dreaming that he and Lily were picnicking under the stars, drinking butterbeer. Always a heavy sleeper--something about not having a care in the world, he completely missed West's announcement, Sirius' outburst and Miss Devlin's tricky offer.

It wasn't until the faint hum of Snitch wings could be heard in the theatre that his ears alerted him to the idea of waking up. Slowly one eye peeled open and he looked around the dimly lit theatre.

Sirius, by the time James came around, was back in his seat, holding the snitch and looking at it rather dubiously. He glanced at his friend and saw that he had one eye open.

"Got you a gift," he said, dangling it by one wing in front of James's face. "Careful. Might be a dungbomb in disguise."

"A dungbomb?" Pulling the snitch lightly from Sirius' fingers e gave a low whistle and watched as the snitch flew into position just above is left shoulder. With a happy smile he looked a this friend.

"So how did you find a snitch?" The snitch was acting like his, but with this place, he wasn't sure-- there was only one trained snitch that he knew of, but he was in a world were Snape was old enough to be his father. The thought made him frown a little.

"You sleep like the dead," he responded, shrugging.

"I woke up and saw West up there, talking about parties." He motioned to the screen. "Thought I was dreaming, so I started shouting at him. I asked him, as anyone in their right mind would be so inclined to ask, why he gave dear old Snivellus his wand, but not two upstanding citizens such as ourselves. So, then -"

He turned in his chair and pointed to the row behind them. "I hear a woman back there, turn around, and there she is, sitting atop my chair like Nimue herself. She introduces herself as 'Miss Devlin' - still with me, here? - and tells me Snape got his wand by making a trade with her."

The last sentence was said with the gravity one would attribute to a shocking scandal, if one were unsurprised about said scandal.

He shrugged. "I told her where she could put her deal, and she gave me that as a gesture of goodwill."
