I knew a guy named Blaze, though he was really my brother's friend.
John hasn't mentioned any such persons as colorfully named since he's been in recovery.

If my brother's friends didn't have wild nicknames, then they were known by their initials... "L.M.N. and T.J." are two that come to mind. The friend that he most often reminisces with (also in recovery) is named John as well.

As for Blaze, one time at a party, my brother asked me, "So what do you think of Blaze?" I thought for a second and answered, "Bag the face; the rest is usable." I didn't find out until years later that Blaze had been standing behind me when that exchange occurred. My brother assured me that Blaze was amused rather than offended.

I find your description of yourself unexpected. Isn't it funny how we create pictures in our mind of what someone looks like just from their 1x1 icons? I had someone, meeting me in person for the first time, say that they had thought I was about 5'8". I'm 6'1 and about 230lbs. I laughed and said, no, that would be both of my exes:)
Glad you and your brother are close, despite pushing each other's buttons.

my straight redneck brother and his boys use gay as slang for stupid or dumb, they never even realized it was pushing my buttons until I recently went off on them! lol
