Poem

I write this to you from sister to brother:
I want to end these spats -
This bickering that happens between us.
What's the point in fighting when it's full of acts?

I want it to be how it used to be.
Back when we weren't trying to tear out each other's throats.
Life might have gotten in the way
But no matter what, we're still each other's life boats.

Listen, just listen, please.
Whether I'm viewed as the angel or you're the beast,
You're still my precious little brother -
Even when I act like I like you the least.

We're closest in age, closest in bond;
But it's hurting me when we fight.
Can't we just end this hurt?
Can't we just make it right?

Regardless if you hate me right now,
Regardless if you think I'm the villain in this story -
I won't ever regret this bond we share,
One where we can share our worries.

But is that all in the past?
Hatred can tear us apart the most in this day and age.
It can tear us apart effortlessly,
Make us full with rage.

Just one day where we won't fight all the time.
Just one more day when we can smile without regret.
You act as though this doesn't affect you at all,
That all you've ever done is forget.

Listen - I still love you.
I still treasure you deeply in my heart.
If you don't believe me, that's fine.
But I do hope that one day, we can make a brand new start.

major angst, poem, no regrets
