History: First, it would be a good idea to explain the world a little bit. In the present day, there's a group of people known to the general public called, 'inousha', which literally means 'people with power'. And that's exactly what they are--people with power, and are usually depicted as rather scary and generally feared.

But, to these people with power, they call themselves 'tenseisha', which literally means something along the lines of, 'reborn ones'. They know they have this power because they are aware of their past lives, which were gods in heaven in the centuries beforehand, and also inherited the power. Every main character in Tales of Innocence is tenseisha.

Iria is no exception. She grew up in the small village of Sania with her mother and father, and three younger siblings, and pet Muse named Coda. Ever since she was a child, she'd been having strange dreams of a lady named Inanna and the events that happened around her--this was her past life. Her powers awakened early on, but she kept it mostly to herself since she would get strange looks, etc.

One day a mysterious organization called Alca attacked her town looking for her, the leader of which, Mathias, demanding she hand over the power of Genesis or at least tell its whereabouts. Confused and scared, she ran away from home and took a boat to a random place. And this random place happened to be the grand city of Regnum, where she met Luca. Luca just so happened to be the one who was her lover in their past life (Asura)... Mathias and the people of Alca catch up to them, and she sees Luca's powers awaken. However, this isn't a good thing since Regnum has an Inousha Detainment Law. So along with being rather similar, and being chased, they escaped town together to find out more information.

Once out of the town Iria suggests they head to Naohs, the holy city, and see if they can gather more information there. But just as they're about to enter the city, their powers are somehow disabled and they're captured by a strange person who takes them to a prison. There in the prison they're put with two other people: Chitose and Spada. Iria does not like Chitose but finds Spada bearable. It's lucky for them when all of them but Chitose are called out together to be sent to war (since that's the procedure for captured Inousha in Regnum), and Spada's past life power awakens as the holy sword Durandal (Asura's sword). Even better!

On the Western Battlefield, they fight, and come across many others who recognize them as Asura, Inanna, and Durandal from the past life, and more often than not their encounters end up in fights. No matter. They bump into Chitose several times in the field, who reveals to them that she's planning on joining Alca. But! There is a fire back at camp so they run back, to find a hitman (Ricardo) ruining their supplies. He looks like he's about to kill them when a crazy dude named Hasta appears, and the trio run.

They run into Chitose again who bids them farewell since they can't travel together. She gives Luca a parting kiss (oh and is Iria pissed), and the three leave the battlefield. So they decide to once again head for Naohs. There they meet Spada's old butler Hartman and learn that Spada is a rich kid from Regnum who ran away from home. Hartman also tells them about the Sister of the church, Ange, who was kidnapped but might know something. So they decide to go retrieve her in the Naohs Base.

The Base acts as a sort of experimental area for tenseisha, because they see a lot of them in tubes. They fight this robot powered by one of the tubes, a Gigantes, and find Ange inside. They learn that she's Orifiel from the past life (a close friend to Asura's), and volunteer to take her back to Naohs. On the way out of the Base they run into Ricardo, who tells them that his job is protecting Ange's. After a bit of persuading he travels along with them.

They return to Naohs and rest at Hartman's a bit while they decide what to do next, which they ultimately decide to go back to Regnum. They have to be careful though, because of the Detainment Law. They split up and agree to meet in the sewers when they're done. Iria and Ange return from their little quest and find a little orphan girl named Hermana in the sewers. She agrees to give them info if they help her get this mushroom in the cavern attached to the sewer.

In the depths of the cavern they find this strange circle in the ground, and they trigger it and see a brief flashback of the past life. Bizarre! They decide it would be best to find more of these to help them understand more about what happened then (they knew Heaven was destroyed, but they have no answers). Ange mentions a library in the church at Naohs, so with no other leads (and Coda having eaten the mushroom), that's where they're headed.

They learn about memory spaces in Ashihara, Garam, Galpos, and Tenos. The first boat they're able to get is in Ashihara. After a little asking around the townspeople, they learn that the most likely place for the memory space (heehee internal rhyme) would be in the Ashihara Tombs. In the deepest parts they see murals of Asura, the Demon King, and Inanna, and Iria's begins to get strange headaches. They find the memory space and see a flashback of Inanna begging Asura to not use Genesis.

Chitose then appears, begging Luca once again to join Mathias and Alca, and that Mathias would use Genesis to create a world they want. But Luca knows that Mathias was the Demon King in her past life and refuses, so they fight. Chitose also begins to call Inanna a traitor, and begins to blame her for the destruction of Heaven. Oh. Iria is pissed.

After their work is done they decide to go to the next destination: Garam. There they find the memory circle and find and fight Hasta, who stabs Luca!! He was out for three days; Iria was crying the entire time.

After Garam they head to Galpos, where they find a young boy Sian who is also in Alca, who also tries to convince them to join but of course they refuse.

However at this point, because of the war, there are no boats headed to Tenos from Galpos so they go back to Regnum and wait for their next ride. It seems prepared quickly because Ricardo calls them to the dock, but suddenly has them surrounded by soldiers and takes them to the remote island of the Grigoris.

The Grigoris are a race of people who descended directly from the gods, and really don't like tenseisha. They continually threaten the group while they're there when they're finally given some food. But of course, it turns out to be drugged. Ricardo did that in order to get them off the island, since they were going to be experimented on. However Ricardo's past life brother follows them and attacks them.

The party reaches the city of Mamut, the closest they could get to Tenos, and from there head north through the creepy, zombie-filled Remlace Marsh, and then cross over the Northern Battlefield (and a brief run-in with Hasta). FINALLY, they reach Tenos. They learn of a noble named Albert who also is apparently after Genesis.

They head to the Divine Garden where the memory circle is and after a brief flashback they learn that Genesis is inside Heaven's Castle which is still around, then Albert appears. He and Ange were very close in their past life so they run off together, leaving the party in a bit of a shock. They find them in the hangar of a newly developed airship inside the munitions factory. Ange and Albert are apparently getting ready to leave for the Castle. But, they end up fighting. Ange doesn't allow them to hurt Albert, but after a bit of talking Albert lets them go, and says that they should stop Mathias! Yay!

Heaven's Castle is full of petrified forms of creatures that used to reside in the castle. But it's a huge shock when they reach the innermost chamber to find not Genesis, but statues of Asura, Inanna, and Durandal in their last moments. This triggers a sudden memory for them: Asura is the Demon King, who obtained Genesis so he could combine Earth and Heaven into one. But Inanna and Durandal were never on Asura's side to begin with--they were sent from the opposing country to murder Asura and stop him from doing this. So when Asura is about to use Genesis Inanna stabs him, Asura breaks Durandal in two and stabs Inanna. Genesis needs two people to activate it so they both wish at the same time two different things for the fate of the world, which resulted in the skewed way the world is and the existence of tenseisha in the preset day.

This sends Iria into a shock--she didn't want to be that kind of woman and hates Inanna for it. In this crazy moment of truth, Mathias, Chitose, and Sian all show up, and Mathias removes her helmet/mask thingy to reveal that she looks just like Inanna. She also tells them that she is the darker side of Asura's soul, and wants Luca to join her so they can recreate the world it was meant to be--destroyed. Luca, in shock, obeys (followed by many protests from his party members) and Mathias mentions they need another person as a sacrifice type thingy. Chitose volunteers, but Mathias has Iria in mind. But Luca says that they should use him instead, because he feels quite worthless at the moment.

So, in a fit Luca's power suddenly activates and the old old Castle begins to crumble. Mathias and Chitose teleport out. Iria and company try to get Luca to get a hold of himself, but he won't listen, so the only choice is for them to leave him behind and escape for the airship...

Personality: The one thing that any person would walk away with after meeting Iria for the first time is her terrible temper. Like the redhead she is, she’s terribly hot-headed. She has the tendency to fly off the hook for almost no reason and any little statement can also be taken as an insult quite easily. She stomps around a lot and isn't afraid to yell. Being the eldest of four she can also be incredibly bossy, and no one is exempt from this. When she tells someone to do something, she'll tell it to a 30 year old in the same manner she'd tell a 3 year old. She has a tendency to tell people off.

She sort of has trouble expressing her feelings, especially towards those she cares about a lot. She tends to maintain a sort of rougher exterior which can cause... certain people to think that she hates them (which is quite the opposite, actually). When she's upset with someone she can be passive-aggressive, and may treat them in a distant, polite manner. The more politely she treats you, the more pissed off she is at you. Expressing a like to somebody is even harder than her, and may result in her yelling and frustration.

And she loooooves teasing. Iria will let no chance go by without poking fun at someone. Sometimes she gets carried away and it does occasionally end up in tears and her 'teasing' is sometimes called bullying. Some of her “bullying”, though, may just be her picking out the other party’s weak qualities. This is her way of getting to know someone better.

Overall she's generally a happy person and strong and confident; she really knows who she is and what she wants for her age, and tries not to let things like events that happened in her past life influence or bother her. Unlike Luca who is actually the hero, she has some "hero qualities" to her, like the confidence and determination, even to the manner of speech she uses sometimes.

However, dealing with people is not a strong point for her, and thus comes off as a bit rude especially to those who demand respect. She doesn’t really pay attention to how she speaks or who she’s speaking to-she literally speaks her mind. There really is no “front” or “back” to her personality, she’s very honest.

But really, deep down she does care a lot about the people close to her, even though she isn't very good at showing it.

Strengths: When it comes to the battlefield, Iria isn't afraid. She wields two pistols (which are actually quite heavy), an array of water-type magic and healing/support spells. She's also a quick hitter and very good against larger, slow-moving enemies. Since she grew up in a desert, the heat isn't too much of a bother and she knows how to ride a horse.

Iria is quite dominating, and does not put up with anyone's shit. But she is caring, despite her outwardly mean behavior. Since she does not like her past life, Inanna, she does have a strong sense of self. She also doesn't easily lose face in a tough situation; even if things get rough and she ends up in tears, she doesn't stay that way for long and can quickly get herself together. She definitely has the strength to bounce back no matter what.

Weaknesses: Iria isn't exactly the fastest person on the planet, since she's more suited for long-range combat. She's also terrible at controlling her emotions, since she has the tendency to blow up. If she’s sad enough to cry, then she will… while denying that she is. She also can be a bit impulsive and brash which can lead to bad decisions, and bossy and selfish, which often rubs people the wrong way. And she’s not very good at dealing with others, which… also rubs people the wrong way.

And due to her upbringing, Iria’s strengths don’t really lie in reading and writing. Large books and walls of text are rather daunting for her. She also gets seasick fairly easily, as shown when they need to ride a boat… she’ll avoid them if possible.
