my first reaction was someone that was so convinced of a violent construction of the world couldnt just change his mind about it. like, im sure there are some social constructions that i just wouldnt be able to consider changing ( ... )

I'm having a hard time understanding what you mean by this...Is this a metaphor? I don't think dad likes to kill things with his hands...Is it a World of Warcraft thing? Have you started playing World of Warcraft?

I guess I have to agree with Bry and Mills, but the family element is an important one to recognize. Stating your beliefs is a tough thing to do, but the right thing to do. Still, recognizing that your dad doesn't think he's wrong (and, thus, isn't really wrong) is important too... So talking to your dad honestly and openly, while recognizing and accepting and even validating his view point, would be my vote ( ... )
