Sunny weather, dark mood

Just had a lovely weekend at Wychwood Festival, which appeared to be falling victim to the recession - a very noticeable lack of people generally, most noticeable with the lack of queues at food stalls and big gaps between tents, where previously they had been jam-packed in. I hear you on the work and maternity pay fronts. Just got a letter from the nursery where Matteo is booked for October to say they're putting their fees up by 50%!!! from August. We could move him, but it's still a good rate for inner London and it's right on site at my work. But I may be joining the leagues of women who work basically to pay for childcare and not much else :(

50%??? When inflation is the lowest for years? That's staggering...!

Bet they won't give the staff a rise anywhere near that (or even a tenth of that).
