So, wait.......

So everything we see in "reality" isn't actually "real", it's just a projection of something that is?

And the real image is actually in some cave somewhere??

What the hell?! Then where the hell are we??? Are we in the cave, too?

university sucks!!!

Hey.

Dude, I don't understand any of this. Run it by me again: how come concrete stuff like, uh.... the fridge, is a "belief" whereas something like 2 + 2 = 4 is "knowledge"??

Hold on, let me wrap this up, and I'll be right there.

Yeah, sure.

Ugh, maybe I need to take a break. I feel like I'm gonna go cross-eyed from staring at a monitor too long.

I thought university was supposed to be easier than high school.

It's a lie. A dirty, godforsaken lie. Damnit, I should've known something was up when we didn't have to write entrance exams! Curse my lack of foresight!

That's not exactly how it works.

Well I mean, obviously we're not in the cave. But like if everything in the real world is the illusion and everything in our heads is reality.... where does that put people?

Well, that depends on the person that you're talking to. Some people would say that everyone and everything in the world is made up of information, like a computer program, and if you can decipher the code then you can manipulate the data. Other people would say that it's impossible to tell, but the whole world may just be a dream in the head of a single dreamer, and you don't dare risk waking her up - I suppose that would mean that we're shadows on the wall of the cave just like everything else, only in this case the 'cave' is the head of some disturbed person, and every bit as hollow and spooky as you might expect from the metaphor. Some people would simply smile and tell you that it's a secret.

Even if it was the kind of question you could figure out a single answer to, however, are you really sure that you'd want to know? Or that the answer would have meaning? Sometimes it's better not to examine matters too closely, and just enjoy the shadow puppets. That way, it's easier to avoid seeing your own strings.

That made.... no sense.

At all.

Actually, I think I'm even more confused, now.
