She doesn’t remember much of anything anymore. Snatches of conversations and sounds of laughter tug at her memory, but even when she tries, she can’t remember anything.
In the beginning, it hadn’t been that hard, but now that she knows so much more about heroes and death, that feeling of dread settles in her stomach and the back of her throat, making it difficult for her to breathe.
She looks through all of the old letters and tries to grasp at her elusive memories, but her mind is blank and the words dance in front of her eyelids, mocking her.

“It’s like…I have a hole in my chest,” she says quietly. She takes his hand and puts it in the middle of her chest between her breasts.
He can see the dark intensity of her brown eyes and feel her heart beat at the base of his palm.
He wants to tell her that he knows all about that blinding pain when you realize that someone is gone and isn’t coming back. But he doesn’t; he just gathers her into his arms, and, with dry eyes, she wraps her arms around his neck.
They stay like that for a while.

“To tie up loose ends,” he says carelessly, handing her the silver ribbon as he brushes his knuckles along her bright red hair almost tenderly.
She just laughs and completely misses the almost forlorn look pass across his face.
Even after all these years, she still has the ribbon at the bottom of her jewelry chest, and if she stays still long enough, she can imagine his dark eyes staring into hers, and his fingers trailing down her skin.
But then she just sighs, puts the ribbon back, and shuts the drawer.
He had always been such an exquisite liar.

It was hard to feel special when you had six older brothers who all seemed to be good at something. She was just the girl, the youngest, the baby of the family.
It was hard, but every day, her father would come home from work, pick her up and twirl her around.
“Who’s my little princess?” he would ask, tickling her tummy, and covering her with kisses.
And then for just that one moment, she could feel that she was first.
When her husband left her, her father was still there to tell her that she was still his angel.

You can usually find her sitting at home, staring out the window.
She’ll act completely normal whenever someone else comes around, except for the fact that she always seems to be keeping one eye on the door. Her fingers are always moving, and if you look closely, you can see that she is twisting an emerald ring on her ring finger.
She still remembers how he had kissed her for the last time, one hand fisting in her red hair as the other gripped her waist.
Ron Weasley tries to remember when he had last seen his little sister smile.
These are all rather dark and dreary--for the next set of drabbles, I'll try to have at least one fluffy one. :D
